Show me your Memory Tables

Christine, on April 14, 2011 at 2:59 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 9

I want to have a small memory table at our reception of my and FS's grandparents that have passed. I'm trying to find examples/ideas. Please post pics/ideas of your memory table if you are doing one. Or post pics of other memorial type stuff you are doing. Thanks everyone!

I've thought about this, but haven't decided for sure.

Thanks, Justine. I've been debating something like that (a candle for each person) or just have a couple candles and then a framed pic of each person. I like that pic though because you can put a little more info on each one.

Oo good thread, I too have been wondering about this..def gonna have a table..Hmm I wasn't able to find it before, but does anyone remember that one thread, maybe back in September or October, somebody had made sort of like a lil tree with silver branches and crystal-ish beads and put lil pics of the family member...it was really pretty!!

Not so sure about a table because I am scared to stir up sensitive feelings. But I might have a photo somewhere for Chad's mother but I know there will be tears over that. I will have the rosary she had that Chad's father gave to me wrapped around my bouquet and her picture in his tux pocket, our wedding rosary will be his grandma's that passed away, but as far as the pictures his grandfather remarried and a lot of people are not happy about that so little reminders like the rosaries will be noticed by the people who knew them.

@Bluedaisy: Did you just deceased? Or all grandparents & parents?

@Ab Z: I've been searching through old posts for memorial type stuff but haven't seen that yet.

@Jessika: I can see people getting upset if someone died "early" or unexpectedly. Neither of us has had to experience losing a parent or sibling or anything like that, so we would only be doing this for our grandparents who lived a full life. Do you still think it may be upsetting for some?

You could always have a mention in the program about remembering those who are no longer with you but are looking over you, etc. Maybe a special brooche from grandma incorporated into your bouquet, etc.

Yeah I think it can be I know for sure his dad and his brother will tear up sadly. Chad is the one that hides his tears. He says he wants a picture but I'm scared to put it on display. It took him 5 years after she passed for him to visit her burial site and he wouldn't go with anyone but me, so I know it would be tough on them. She passed at work from a heart attack and he last talked to her half an hour before she passed to say I love you and she was completely fine. I need to figure a way to honor her positively but keep the mood happy.
