Show me your RSVP Cards

CareBear, on November 4, 2015 at 5:24 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 39

I am so confused about what to put on the RSVP card. I know I want to allow them to add how many and who is coming. I also have a wedding Website they can RSVP through but not sure how to word that.

AND

Do you allow them to put a number as to how many are coming? Im afraid I might get some crazy numbers I was never intending if allow them just to write whatever they want.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did leave a space for how many attending and also asked to list their names. We're hoping that most understand that their max # is determined by who the card was actually addressed to, but I'm sure we'll have a few that don't. It was mostly for those families of say maybe 4 (parents/kids) who are all invited but only the adults intend to come, so we need to know only 2 rather than 4. We'll see what happens. Here's mine in the lower right of the pic...

ETA: I also did the whole numbering system on the back for those that neglect to provide their names in the blank!

Summer that invite is so pretty! I love that Respond is very big. I know some people dont know what RSVP means. I thought that was common knowledge, but I guess not!

Here is ours. We're going to manually add the total number of invited guests so they know the max number for their household but leave a blank line so they can write in how many guests of the total number will be attending.

My RSVP cards said something along the lines of "we have reserved # of seats for you". Worked great. No issues!

Do you think if you give them a number that if they dont want their kids to come they will replace their spots with friends or other people you didnt invite? That is what I am afraid of. Like if you invite a husband and wife and their 2 kids and give them 4 and the kids dont come but they bring 2 of their friends in the kids place, did that happen?

We put the "we have reserved # of seats for you" as well. Just sent them out so hoping people abide by this and don't change the numbers.

I want to see one that says, ____ seats have been reserved in your honor. But then has entree choices. I am unsure how to do that.

If you find one that offers the entree choices, you can add a text box on vista print that says "We have reserved # of seats in your honor". My original template didn't say that so I added it on vistaprint. And with the kids included, I separated the numbers and said 2 adults 3 kids as an example. I wasn't chancing having them switch out the kids for some random adults.

I have not ordered mine yet, but I have this in my cart. I just don't want it to look crowded, but I need all the info on it and I don't want to order separate inserts.

@mimitrue that is what I am afraid of too! With all the RSVP horrible stories on here everyone has me all paranoid about them.

We are just doing a simple rsvp card with a line for names and a choice of "can't wait" or "sorry to miss out". Hopefully people are smart enough to figure out that the invitees are only those identified on the envelope. If we have to make a few awkward calls, so be it.

Thank you everyone who replied. I am going to run all possibilities by a few friends before I make my final decision.

@Summer I love your invitations where did you get them?

And I would definitely put a number on them as people have suggested. Also, side note I like the 'Name' in place of 'M.' I helped a friend with a wedding once and you wouldn't believe how many people had NO clue what the 'M' was for. *face palm*

@Kathryn and Allie - I am going to do the "__ seats have been reserved" wording, and for the entree choices I am going to say "please initial an entree choice for each guest" or something like that. So, if your RSVP says that you'll have 3 seats, I am hoping it'll be clear that there are supposed to be 3 sets of initials next to the entree choices.

    edited for grammar.

This is what I roughly put for the RSVPs:

    RSVP

Please respond by December 16, 2015

We have reserved ___ seats in your honor.

    ___ Accepts

    ___ Declines

Ive already for many back and if I put 5 seats in your honor and only 2 can go they have put 2 Accepts and 3 Declines. Its been pretty simple. I just hope some people are noticing that we did not invite their children.. oh well.
