Show me your sand ceremony pictures!

Angela, on May 27, 2018 at 12:42 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 21

FH and I are trying to decide on sand colors for our sand ceremony (us + our seven combined children). Can y’all show me pics of your REAL finished product? All I can seem to find online are stock photos.

Thank you!

We haven't done our yet, so I don't have any pictures. I did find this set that I want for us and our seven children. I haven't decided the colors yet.

A sand ceremony is a unity ceremony. The colors of the sand blend to show the new family unit, or the new family plus God.

Yes, it is like the candle but ya use sand instead and you can put it on the the mantle or a bookshelf like we are doing because we don't have a mantle. I have 2 children so we have 4 colors plus pure white which stands for God which God is on the the bottom because He is the start or the beginning of the marriage and I was the next one which I was red because that is the color I chose because that is my favorite color, then my oldest son came next because he was the oldest he is to lead by example of his younger brother, which was Malibu blue, then came my youngest son which was green because that was his favorite color, then my husband chose silver because he holds us together, then it is back to pure white again because where we were once 3 separate people as a family, we are now 4 in 1 family which makes a unity under God!!

We did this at my dads wedding in 2010. They let each kid pick their own color as long as it wasn’t black (dad’s) or white (moms) all they did was get jars and fill them with sand then we combined them. No fancy set up just a meaningful moment!

You can still do it if you don't have kids it just called a Blended Family Unity Sand Ceremony basically all its doin is just blending 2 families into 1!! You and your finace if you would like could do a sand ceremony you just have to pick 2 colors and one for yourself and one for your fiance and then a third color which is white that is if you having a Christian ceremony because the white stands for God!!

Did you figure out your how you were gonna do your colors? Are you gonna let your children pick their favorite colors and you and your FH pick your colors?

I think we are going to choose 3-4 different colors and let the kids decide which they want to use. We’re re doing an hourglass so we also have to decide if we want it to stay separated “lines” or let the kids actually turn it over, in which case we need to pick colors that won’t look gross when they’re mixed! FH is also still going back and forth over this being part of the “furniture”, which means using brown & white sand, or it being “art”, which allows for brighter colors. Who knew this would be the hardest decision to make!

You will have to take pictures and post so we can see what the outcome looks like I have never seen that done before!! It sounds pretty cool!! I used my favorite color, my youngest used his favorite color, and my husband doesn't have a favorite color so he just picked a color, and my oldest didn't tell me a color either so we picked his color to that we thought he would like!!

I wanted to do this since we both have children from our first marriages but honestly all I could think about was one of our dogs knocking over the vases of sand! LOL!! I really like this idea though (I guess the dogs could still knock it over but oh well! ) https://www.etsy.com/listing/592022582/blended-family-wedding-sand-ceremony?ref=user_profile

We did white and gray sand, because I knew we were going to redo our house with gray as the main color, and I wanted it to match when I had it displayed. Matching it to my home decor was more important to me than matching it to my wedding colors. I don't have a photo of it though.
