ErleneJ, on May 10, 2017 at 11:22 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 19

Hi! Please show me your table seating charts or however else you plan to display these at your wedding. Trying to decide what way is best and am open to DIYing.

Thanks!

Ooh, there was a thread the other day about DIY table numbers that you may like to check out https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/diyers-show-me-your-framed-table-numbers/afb4cc9921075547.html

How much of a pain was that @WWLynnie? I still can't decide how I want to do a seating chart.. or if I should do placecards instead.

We found a slotted door and added hooks to it. Then hooked the name tags and the favor on them.

The table numbers I got from Oriental Trading for 20 bucks for a dozen.

I'm doing something similar to @LB with clothespins and a window shutter.

I made our table numbers on my own on word and printed them. We put them in frames from the dollar store, after my dad spray painted them. Each table has pictures of us at the corresponding age. FH and I met at 15 so we have pics of us together starting at table 15

This is what we are doing. Table letters instead of numbers and displaying them all on an old chalkboard that I re-purposed Smiley smile

Instead of table numbers, we are naming tables after our favorite cities in Michigan. Our wedding is beach themed (since it's on Lake Michigan) but also Michigan themed. We will also put a photo of us in each city on the table next to the table numbers.

I'm doing something like this for my table assignments. That thread Jo posted was mine and that's what I'm doing for the table numbers.

MichiganBride, mines will be similar. We'll be doing streets. Since my fh and I grew up in the same little town and most of our guest grew up there we decided that would be entertaining and conversation starter. We moved over 150 miles away along with most guest have relocated away from our home town.

@MoreMoore are you getting a template from Etsy for the cards or are you doing them on your own? So cute!

@ErleneJ - I will probably just do it myself and pull in elements from our invitations into them. I'm no graphic designer, but I can work my way around some things like that. But I have seen some really great ones on etsy and just by googling templates.

We also did our seating chart last minute. The WP used the PDF we used for our invites and STDs to create our seating chart, table numbers and name tags. We were originally going to use escort cards, but the venue didn't have a large enough table in the entrance for them, so our escort cards became our name tags. We were very happy with how everything turned out.

Oops - sorry for the late response K Dot!

It was a huge pain, but only because I left it until the last few days before the wedding Smiley sad I was going to have the amazing calligrapher who did my envelopes do the seating chart, then I realized that there was no way we'd be able to fit everything for the wedding plus a huge mirror in our car to drive everything down!

My best advice is to do lots of measuring and block it out with painters tape. I used tiny strips of tape to help keep all the names straight, and blocked out the space for each section so I didn't run out of space. It completely forgot a table of my friends in the 2nd column and had to hastily add the table in as I was getting ready for the rehearsal dinner - that's why the middle column looks wrong Smiley smile

But if you actually give yourself enough time you can do it!
