show me your veil!

mzj, on May 15, 2017 at 2:36 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

I'm trying to decide on my veil. I'm planning to go through Etsy so I wont have the ability to try it on before ordering. I'm stuck between a floor length 6ft long veil and a 7.5 ft long chapel veil. My dress has a long train but I don't want a longer veil than dress. anyone has or had a veil that touched the ground but didn't extend as far as the full train of your dress? pictures are awesome Smiley winking

Can we see a photo of your train? Usually when I see dresses with trains I either see them paired with a veil that is fairly significantly shorter than the train, like a fingertip length or waist length, or with a veil that is a bit longer than the train to fan out around it. I'd go try on your dress and put on a few veils with it to get an idea of a length you want.

I actually have no pictures of my dress, I didn't take any at my first fitting. I did try on a couple that were shorter which I didn't like, and some that were as long as the train which I didn't like either. I like the idea of one that is shorter than the train but still long enough to skim the ground but I can't find any pictures of that look online Smiley amazing

Mine was a cathedral length veil (ivory) from Blanca Veils on etsy! This was $120 with express shipping.

@Taryn & Bill Your dress and veil and that photo is freaking beautiful!

The train on my dress is pretty long, so I got a 6ft veil with blusher. My dress is very intricate and beaded and so I wanted a simple veil, but I wanted it to touch the floor. I also bought a pretty rhinestone hair comb on Etsy, and the person who made my veil (also from Blana Veils) just sewed some loops on the top of the veil so it could slide right onto the comb I got. I got both of them last week and it looks gorgeous! My veil was less than $70 and is great quality.

This was my veil from DB. It is cathedral length. I believe my dress train was closer to chapel length. I tried on a shorter veil (finger tip I think) and it looked good in person but kind of strange in photos, when I showed people photos of my dress while wearing the shorter veil they pointed to it and said "what's that part on your dress?" And I had to explain that was the lace from the veil. I liked that veil a lot but I'm so happy with my cathedral veil.

I personally like when the veil either meets the train of your dress or extends beyond it

What about waltz length? Less common these days but it could look quite elegant depending on your dress. Mine was a 2 tier fingertip length from the Mantilla Company.
