Show me your wedding band!

JoBu, on March 26, 2015 at 7:34 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 50

Long story short, I did a special order wedding band to go with my engagement ring, and now I am having second thoughts. I went yesterday and tried on some "mismatch" bands to see if I liked that look any better. I just can't decide. I would love to see your wedding bands--especially if they are mismatched from your engagement ring!

Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of it here at work.... but my wedding band is mismatched. I have a solitare, so it seemed like it would be really easy to just find any old ring to put with it. Wrong! I almost decided to not have a wedding band. I have a larger stone on my e-ring with a little thin band, so the prongs come off at a steep angle, making it hard for another band to sit close. Everything had this big gap I couldn't stand. Finally they found a perfect fit.... it's a very thin band with a soft chevron in it that allows for the prongs on my e-ring. It's got diamonds about half way around, so when it's on, it looks like an eternity band. And... it was really inexpensive!

If I remember right, your ring is similar to mine...we didn't want to go with the custom route since mine wasn't part of a set, but found this one and I love it (its the bottom pave)

I wanted an eternity band really bad and was pretty set on it until a jeweler informed that you can't ever resize them and a lot of people have problems with losing stones out of them, naturally. i didn't want a half diamond band because i didn't want to have my rings soldered and they spin a lot and it would have driven me nuts. so, in the end, i opted for the cheap simple gold band that went with my engagement ring setting. having a wedding band was durable and could last a lifetime was really important to me. i guess i'm big into symbolism and i really wanted my wedding ring to symbolize what i wanted out of my marriage. i didn't want a ring i knew i'd most likely have to just replace later.

i'm happy with my decision. my setting is very classic and timeless. DH can get me my eternity ring for an anniversary gift later on after i get fat and preggers with kids and we're done. lol!

@Maltese Good memory! Smiley smile Our rings are similar! It has been so hard to find something that works with my e-ring. It's from Shane Company and they don't do custom bands--which is probably a good thing because I have a feeling it would be expensive--but they did a "special order" which apparently means the designer of my e-ring had made a band for it before but it's just not sold as a set, so I went ahead and ordered that without ever actually seeing it, just a stock photo. Unfortunately, the special order is final sale so I can't return it. I just feel like the band is so thin and dainty on my big hands/fingers. Not so noticeable when I wear it with the e-ring but by itself it just looks funny. Because of my job I am not getting the rings soldered so I can wear just the band by itself. So at this point I have no idea what I am going to do. I have some friends who suggested I get the custom band soldered to my e-ring and can wear that regularly, and then get a band to wear just by itself at work. Here's a picture of the special order band and then 3 mismatched ones that I tried on yesterday. The mismatched ones were all about 4 sizes too small so it was hard to get the best idea but they each would fit under the bottom curvature of my e-ring.

Also @Maltese I love the band you chose! That's similar to the bottom right one that I tried on...it would sit a little more flush with my e-ring and under the bottom curvature.

@jenna I love the symbolism--I hadn't really thought of it that way. Yours is definitely classic and timeless and looks beautiful!

Another thing you could do, which I was considering was not even to wear the band on my left hand, but replace one I wear on my right hand every day. This was if we couldn't find something that paired up with it. Personally, I WOULDN'T get it soldered because of your job. I really don't understand the point of people getting two wedding bands...its more of a symbolic reasoning but IMO the ring that is put on my finger the day of my wedding IS my wedding band. Anything else would just be a ring.

I like the upper right best. Upper left is too distracting. Then I like lower right as a number two choice. Not a fan of lower left

I love my entire set but I might be changing the setting. I had a close call yesterday and lost my center stone but found it in my car. Did I mention that I found it before I was aware that it was missing. smh

We got ours last week and FH gets mad at me because I try it on so much. His is the same but larger and matted not polished.

My ring didn't have a matching band and I had a really hard time finding one that looked as if it matched. We were about to go the custom route when I found this. I love it and it saved us $1,000 (I'm not a big jewelry person)

Mine is not mismatched - I'm thinking of getting them soldered together.

Mine matches but hoping to add a blue sapphire anniversary band in the future. This was the sample.

I don't have my ring yet but this is the style I am getting, if not exactly this one. FH has it in layaway for me and it's been a while since I've seen the actual ring. http://www.kay.com/en/kaystore/engagement---wedding/heartessence-wedding-band-1-5-ct-tw-diamonds-10k-white-gold-940274626--1

I don't have a picture, but mine looks like Jenna's. It's so hard to turn down all the sparkly diamond bands in the store, but when I received my actual band and tried it on, I loved the way it looked and felt.

I designed mine. I wasn't finding anything that complimented my e-ring that wasn't super delicate.
