Showering and redressing before the ceremony?

Michelle, on April 19, 2021 at 12:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
Was reading another thread where this is a common thing for guests coming from out of the local area, not during a gap. I didn’t know it was that prevalent or even done in the first place. Not many can do that and get to the venue on time in an hour or less as was suggested is the average timeframe.

Is this common in your circle or not done at all?

I'm not sure what this means? Is this any different from waking up and getting ready like normal?

There was another post that mentioned it’s common for guests when coming in from out of the area, check into hotel, shower, redress, etc then straight to the wedding in a short time frame.

We always check into our hotel and shower/dress before events when traveling.

I've always thought this was common practice! Like Ava said, we always check into our hotel and shower and get ready before events.

Did you mean shower and redress before the reception? Either way it sounds weird to me to shower and redress before either one. In the morning I will spend the whole morning getting ready before the ceremony. No time to shower again if Im getting hair & makeup done, I guess it depends on the time of the ceremony. Same for reception. I wouldn’t dare shower with a full face of makeup on. We only have time for pictures in between the ceremony and reception, anything else would create a larger gap.

I can't imagine knowing enough about other people's grooming habits to be able to answer this: "Is this common in your circle or not done at all?"

But for me, I guess it would depend on how far I was traveling and how much time there was between hotel checkin and the start of the ceremony. I can't actually think of a destination wedding I attended where I arrived just before the ceremony, so maybe this is moot. I am pretty sure I have always arrived the day before.

Several of our guests aren't interested in driving 4-6 hours in a fancy dress, heels, and full hair and makeup (that would surely need a touchup after that amount of time), so Yes, they will be driving in comfortable clothing, and then checking in to the hotel and changing/getting made up before coming to the ceremony. Seems logical to me.

We always drive to the hotel in our regular clothes and check in and get settled. Then we shower and get ready. Unless the timing was super tight, I am not sure why you would get fully made up before going to the hotel. For formal events, I always time my getting ready to when I need to leave for the function. Therefore, I don't have to sit around wrinkling my clothes, watching my hair delate or sweating off my makeup.
