Shutterfly Premium Album

NCErin, on October 9, 2014 at 9:11 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 14

Has anyone created on the shutterfly premium albums? The two options for the cover are black leather (which I feel would be the most durable) or a white silk (that seems like it could get dirty? but is much prettier and says 'wedding' album.

I definitely want the white silk for looks, but would prefer the book stand the test of time and people looking through it! Any reviews of either?

I'm contemplating the black leather cover for my albums as well (via MyPublisher, and I think Shutterfly owns them, or vice versa).

For the same concerns as you have, I wouldn't do white at all.

I would love to see some of these albums from shutterfly. I am deciding if I want to go with shutterfly or have my photographer make the album for $500.00. Does anyone have an album from shutterfly. Are you happy with it?

I just bought a black leather premium album from shutterfly, I couldn't be happier! It looks great! I would recommend the flat pages (although pricey) for a wedding album but mine was for my boudoir shoot for FH's wedding present, so the regular pages were fine.

@Fran, I have bought probably 5 shutterfly books and I have loved them all, the company is pretty upstanding.

I just took a quick look at shutterfly. There are a lot of choices. Does anyone recommend a certain one for the parents? My photographer wants $150.00 - $200.00 to do the parents book.

Thanks! I agree with Kristina, I have many shutterfly books and have liked them all. I plan to put more money into this one- doing the premium including nicest cover and layflat pages. Just can't decide on the cover type- think I'm leaning to the leather! Thanks for your advice Kristina!

I just ordered a guest book photo album yesterday from Shutterfly. I've never ordered one before so I'm not sure how it'll turn out. From what I have heard through others who have done albums through Shutterfly they have liked them! I was able to get my album for $7.85 because my MOH gave me a coupon code for a free 8x8 album. It's hard cover, and I didn't do any upgrades to the book (lay flat, or glossy pages), so all I had to pay for was shipping.

Don't forget to use coupon codes when you check out!

What is the difference between flat pages or other pages?

The flat pages are twice as thick and look more professional--and lay flat. Regular pages are just like pages of any book, they are raised by the binding. I hope this makes sense lol

^if it it something important like our wedding album, do lay flat. They look WAY better. I've been using shutterfly for YEARS. So I have a ton of books from them but had never used the lay flat. I decided to take the chance on doing lay flat with my photo guest book and they pages are thicker and you don't lose any of the picture in the middle binding. They're such a better quality and worth the money.

With that said, I just ordered my personal wedding photo album with the lay flat pages because I want them to be perfect/high quality....but I ordered 3 photobooks for family and did those with normal pages.

If I were you, I'd go for the black one. Here's why... My mom has a white wedding album from the 70's... it was leather, but it still shows a lot of wear. However, the bigger issue is that it looks totally out of place on the coffee table because it's so clearly a wedding album, so she keeps it in a drawer.

My brother and SIL got a black printed book, and it sits on their coffee table and just looks like another book. My feeling is, YOU know it's a wedding album - flash forward 5 years, do you really need the cover to say "wedding", literally or figuratively? I think the black will not only handle wear and tear better, i think you'll be happy years from now with having something that's more subdued that fits in with any decor, and works as a coffee table book.

I've used shutterfly multiple times, and they do nice work!

I've only made one Shutterfly album, but it turned out awesome. I was very pleased with the quality, and I had a great coupon which made it quite inexpensive. I'm planning on getting one of the premium albums after our wedding.

@Fran... I'd definitely do a Shutterfly album for parents rather than spend that much from a photographer. You will save a TON of money. For example, the album that I made was a 12x12 with around 30 pages, and I paid about $40 for it (after coupon). It was just a "normal" one, but it was still great quality... definitely good enough for a parent's album.
