Shuttle Service

Futuremrs, on October 4, 2019 at 5:57 PM Posted in Planning 0 28
Hi WW! Did any of you provide shuttle service for your guests to/from your wedding venue? I’m thinking about providing shuttle service from the hotel to my wedding/reception venue for my out of town guests. Was this pricey? Thanks in advance for your responses 😊

I think in some cases, the hotel might have a shuttle they can offer for a discount since you have a room block with them, have you tried reaching out and asking if that type of thing is available?

The prices I got from shuttle services were INSANE (like 3k since we have a large wedding) so we're doing a yellow school bus instead for $750 lol. I figured who cares its free shuttle service and prevents our guests from drunk driving.

Yes and yes 🤣. Shuttle service was a pretty big expense for us, but it was also non negotiable given the circumstances of our venue (...an island. Accessed by a windy, poorly lit, single lane causeway)—> that also limited our vehicle options (couldn’t just get a big bus and be done, had to go for a couple smaller vehicles instead). The problem we ran into was companies charging by the hour; but requiring minimum of 4 hour rentals ...this would’ve been fine if we could break up the 4, and do 2 hours at the start and 2 at the end , but of course that would’ve been too easy 🙄. The 4 hour blocks needed to be consecutive, so we ended up having to pay for 8 hours per vehicle which made it spendy! On the plus side, it meant they were ours all day. So they were on site all day so if anyone had wanted to leave super early, they could have.

Thanks Jennifer! No I haven’t, but that’s a great idea. I will ask the hotel.

LOL exactly Zoe! Free booze and a free ride who can find an issue with that 🤷🏽‍♀️😆. I’m only expecting about 100-120 guests, about 80 are from out of town. Thanks for the suggestion. I’m open to all options.

Wow and wow 😆 That sounds really pricey! It’s so messed up they made you book for an 8 hour stint instead of breaking it up like you wanted, but I guess it worked out like you said for the guests who needed to leave early. Thanks Mcskipper!

I did for all my guest but I had a destination wedding so it was a must for us. It wasn’t expensive but could be because it was in a different country. I think we paid less than $400 and we tipped all the drivers which I believe were 3 in total.

That’s a great deal Hannah! Did they make multiple trips? Was there a time limit (2 hours, 3 hours, etc.)? Thanks!

Thats not a bad price at all Yoice. Majority of my guests are from out of town so I think we’ll definitely want to make it easy for them to get to/from the venue. Thanks!

Yep! It was only an 11 person van, but the hotel was only a mile away from the venue. We had it for 8 hours. 4 before the wedding and 4 after.

I wanted to... but all of the places were completely booked for color tours (big thing in MI). So I recommend that it if you want an shuttle, get it booked well in advance. Ours was going to be roughly $600 for 3 hours.

If you have a hotel block, ask the hotel if they offer complimentary shuttle service. I’m using the recommended hotel for my venue and they are providing complimentary shuttle service to and from. This is at a Marriott property.

Some Marriotts have school bus shuttles available for free if you get room blocks with them. The time is limited but you can purchase additional time. At least, that was our experience. We were in a wedding and the shuttle had to make extra trips for the wedding party then the guests and had two exits times that evening.

We are planning for one. We’ve gotten 2 quotes so far. One will provide 3 vehicles (2 shuttles and limo for bridal party) for $550-$650. Another the hotel offered which is just a school bus for $750 but if we secure 20 rooms they will split the cost 50/50 with us.

Yes, we are providing shuttle service for all of our guests. We are having an international destination wedding. All but 1 guest, is traveling in for the wedding. Shuttles will pick up guests at the resort at 3:30-3:45p to bring them to the wedding venue. It is a 15-20 minute drive. Shuttles will be offering rides back to the resort from 11:30pm to 1:30am. The best quote I found was $120 per shuttle, which fits 13 people.

The prices for transporation too/from where crazy expensive. We are telling everyone to uber/lyft to the venue and providing a bus only back to the hotel. That way we know people will get home safely.

We are providing a shuttle service picking up from our cabins and delivering to the venue (2 runs) then returning from venue to cabins (2 runs) and it was $625 but it will depend on area and how long you have them for, This is considered "all day" its just 8 hours and if we go over allotted time it is $85 extra per hour. That being said ours is just one of those sight seeing buses (it sits 25)

We will be booking a trolley service (since that's what is popular in St. Augustine!) for before and after the wedding. Total it will cost around $700. We might also use the same service for transporting our wedding party.

Thank you!! I keep looking for what hotel chains offer this service because the quotes I’ve received are around $1200. I am willing to even pay a hotel to do it, just would rather pay a lot less.
