*sigh* Casablanca Bridal Issues -ETA update in comments

Mrs. Winosaurusrex, on January 20, 2016 at 6:18 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12

So i heard back form my salon, she's waiting the final word but it looks like my entire dress needs to be remade. I was told they'll be sending all materials, fabric ect. to a factory here in CA to have the dress remade since Chinese New Year shuts down China for 2-3 weeks. The factory is already re-dying fabric in preparation, has anyone else had this happen?

I should have my dress sometime in March, am I going to be rushing alterations at that point? Should I start looking for a seamstress now or continue to wait? Should i try to find shoes? We thought I'd have the dress in 2 weeks originally.

You'll be okay with alterations. My wedding is a month before yours and my dress comes in in March! Any dress pictures to spoil us with?!

So i never got to try it on since I'm not a sample size 6, but i tried on Casablanca dresses in the same silhouette and they looked amazing-it was jut the detailing on this dress i fell for.

    It's champagne with ivory overlay.

We ordered extra fabric and because i'm large chested, we're adding off the shoulder cap sleeves that end in a V in the back. It's stunning, and that's how we found out there was a problem. they dyed the fabric for that the wrong color, then my salon got suspicious about the dress itself and she's all but confirmed that there are major problems-hence the entire dress needed to be remade...

My dress was custom made in NYC. When it arrived at the salon 8 weeks before my DW wedding the salon manager noticed the top was not right. So they overnighted it back to NYC, the designer worked on it straight away to fix the issue and re-overnighted it in 4 weeks. I had my first fitting that week and the seamstress hemmed it and added small details the next. I had it back in my possession 6 days!!! before we left. You will be fine.

Thanks ladies. Still talking myself off my ledge over this. My anxiety levels have been climbing steadily since last week when we learned there was a problem, back it back off isn't as easy. Part of it is just frustration since I was so excited to get it in, and now this delay....but frankly as long as it turns out ok-if this is the worst thing i deal with during this entire process I figure I should count myself lucky?

Seriously gorgeous dress. Kudos to the bridal salon for picking up on the problems and getting them rectified as quickly as possible!

Spoke to the salon and it's official. 6 dresses were ruined, something happened during the dye job and it was only noticed after my salon asked for a QC check on my dress. They have redyed all the fabric and have sent all the material to the US.

Apparently a US shop now has to completely construct 6 new dresses on a fast tracked deadline to get everyone dresses by end of March. Two of those dresses are for dresses in May, the other 3 for weddings right after mine.

@Jolie they are made in China. They have an entire complex of factories. They are doing everything they can to make these right, it's a family owned company.

They are made in China, a lot of brands are, just like any other product. This is why they have such great prices for bridal gowns. I ordered mine January 2nd this year for my Dec 10, 2016 wedding. When I ordered it the shop let me know that the factories will shut down 2 - 3 weeks for Chinese New Year but because I ordered so far in advance I won't have to worry about this.

It's great their US location is willing to do the work too Smiley smile Don't stress too much about it, if they're fast-tracking it then you should be fine. Just keep in contact with the salon for updates 1-2 times a month.

OH I will, I'm going to the salon in a couple weeks for tux rentals.

Chinese New Year will shut down the entire country for 2-3 weeks, i actually work in manufacturing and we're in our busiest time of the year right now preparing for the shut down.
