sign in scroll instead of guestbook... anyone have advice on DIY?

Tracey , on April 26, 2013 at 12:46 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7

Hello Smiley smile I am doing a wooden letter M, but also would like to add just a one sheet paper for guest to sign. two inspiration links below. Two questions:

1) would it be weird to offer two things for guests to sign? Maybe the clipboard with pretty sign in sheet for the ceremony and pass the wooden letter around at the reception?

2) any ideas on DIY sign in page instead of paying a high fee? I am thinking just creating in Word, using construction paper to "frame" it, etc.

Here are the inspiration links:

I think if you have two options, some of the guests might only sign one. You might need to have your wedding party running around to make sure that all of the guests actually signed both.

If you do decide to make your own, use cardstock, not construction paper. Construction paper will fade super fast. I know hobby stores (Michaels, JoAnns, and Hobby Lobby) sell individual sheets of fancy card stock in the scrapbooking section for fifty cents to a couple of dollars/sheet (depending on just how fancy). I would ask a worker for one that won't fade quickly.

I was thinking the same thing...my guests would only sign one...I think if you specifically ask for them to sign both then they would oblige but if you don't, they're going to sign one or the other...

Than you ladies ... ok.. what if i did the sign in "decorative sheet of paper"/"scroll" at the ceremony entrance and have the wooden letter M passed around during the reception to sign? would that be weird?

I have two "guest books" as well. I'm going to have a simple picture book I got from Shutterfly at the entrance to the ceremony. At the reception I'm going to have my "time capsule" set up. I figured after a few drinks people may have some funny things to put in your time capsule for us to read at our one year anniversary! Smiley smile maybe do it that way? Like the other ladies said not everyone will sign both, but if you have them set up in different locations maybe they'll get the idea that its meant to be that they can sign them both? Just a thought Smiley smile

I like Kaity's idea of having one for the ceremony and one for the reception.

I think either idea works nicely. But if you do decide on the clipboard, why not put two or three pages together. People will know to flip the page and sign it when the first and second are filled. This way, they will all be in one place. Go with that, but do spray paint the cardboard part to match your wedding color before you add the bling. You may also cover it in vintage wrapping paper for more interest.
