Signature Drink

OldSchoolKindaLove, on April 18, 2018 at 5:58 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 18

We will be allowed to serve a signature drink containing liquor at my wedding reception, but we are not allowed to mix the alcohol during the reception, or have the liquor bottles displayed (Venue Rules). Therefore, basically we have to premix the signature drink. My colors are light pink, aqua/turquoise, and antique/vintage feel, not rustic or country. Do you have a suggestion as to a good mixed drink that we could incorporate? I would appreciate some help.

We are just doing a his and hers drink... his fave (jack and coke) and mine (amaretto sour)

Maybe cosmopolitans? A pink vodka based drink that should have wide appeal to guests.

I was going to suggest a pink vodka drink. Even something as simple as raspberry lemonade and vodka.

We're not doing signature drinks, per se. Instead, we can have spiked punch bowls that serve 50 each. Mom says Amaretto Sours; it's our go-to drink every holiday/special event!

For drinks, I just looked online at an article called 30 classic cocktails from the 1940s: clickamericana.com. Here are a few general/ some pink drinks:
    Frozen Daquari, or regular daquari
Eggnog (if your wedding was during winter, that is!)
Gin Rickey (like gin and tonic but with club soda)
    Cuba Libre
    Sours
    Pink Lady
    Martini
    Bacardi

Turquoise drinks I found on Pinterest:
    Sex in the Driveway
    Blue Devil

Pink and blue/turquoise drinks from TheKnot:
    "Something Blue" Curacao cocktail
"Sweet on You" Strawberry Vodka Lemonade
    "Blushing Bride" Champagne Cocktail

Pinterest can be your best friend in this case; there are a ton of awesome and yummy looking drinks out there! Good luck!

How about Sangria? There are so many different recipes to choose from, from red, white, and rose. Or maybe margaritas? Again, lots of options!

I found our signature drinks through google. We have a 1920s theme wedding, so I knew one would have to be gin based. But I hate gin so I wanted a rum based drink. My drink is the Mary Pickford. It's a drink that was created for the actress during prohibition made with clear rum, grenadine, and pineapple juice and a maraschino cherry. It is pink.

My favorite drink is called a pain killer. It's on the Rocks, so you could make it ahead and serve it over ice.

It's pineapple, orange and coconut cream and rum, so it's kinda peachy coloured.

I'm very fond of a rosè lemonade.
A bottle of sparkling rosè, pink lemonade, and raspberry vodka. It's more of a punch than a mixed drink, so you can premake the drink and have your bartender pour out glasses for people/stir it occasionally.

If the bottle rule is strictly liquer, you can top off each glass with a little champagne (especially if you can't find sparkling rosè) to give it fresh bubbly and make it nicer for the guests, and also champagne drinks just have such a romantic feel. Something like spumanti if you want it extra sweet, otherwise go with a brute as pink lemonade and rosè are sweet on their own.

I don't know about the other one though. Ideally, you could make any drink in advance and in large quantities (unless they're layered) and just make sure to stir before each pour as alcohol settles.

I pretty much googled "pink wedding vintage cocktails" and then "turquoise wedding vintage cocktails" I think.
I'm pretty sure if you type them up in the search bar the recipe would just come up.

I have looked up several blue / pink drinks and I am thinking either:

    Blue Drinks:

Blue Lagoon - Blue Curacao, Vodka, Lemon juice

Envy - silver tequila and blue curaçao with a little pineapple

Blue Monday - vodka, triple sec, blue curaçao

    Pink Drinks:

Pink Elephant - Vodka, Lime juice, Lemonade, Grapefruit Juice, Cranberry Juice and Lime slice (Garnish)

Mary Pickford - white rum, fresh pineapple juice, grenadine, and Maraschino liqueur. Maraschino Cherry for Garnish

Singapore Sling - lemon juice, Dry Gin, Cherry Brandy (Maraschino Cherry and/or pineapple garnish)

Do any of these sound appealing?

I looked this one up and it is a contender. I think it sounds amazing. I have to get with my friends who will tending the bar for the wedding and see if they can make it. They should be able to since they are both licensed bartenders.

Awesome! I think it’s delicious. I’m pretty sure it’s easy to make. When we were trying to figure out what our drinks would be, we were out to eat and we just asked the bartender to make it and they had no problem making.

I also will have the option of a signature cocktail but never thought to ask about the venue rules. This was very helpful as I will be sure to ask about that when I visit them later this month. Also I love the blue lagoon drink, very delicious.
