I prefer real flowers, and would personally not use anything else. Still, I would never say they're tacky. It's really just the question of taste.

I think anything fluff related is all dependant on your budget, what you like, and what you want. Everyone has different tastes, so as far as the pretty stuff goes there's no tacky. There's just personal opinion.

@Edie, @Sonia and @Heather those bouquets are gorgeous!

@Megan - both Hobby Lobby and Michaels have great silks in every price range and frequently run half off their floral stems so watch for the sales!

I don't think silk flowers are tacky. I have silk flowers for my girls and real for me and FH.

I am a fan of real flowers, however, as mentioned by others, silk flowers have come along way.

I think the key is to purchase the best looking silks that you can.

Tacky, well, tacky is in the eye of the beholder, and, honestly, there are real floral arrangements that qualify as tacky. LOL!

I used real touch for our wedding and I got a lot of compliments on it so I don't think it's tacky. First pic and third is to show my bouquet second the bouts which also got a lot of compliments.

It definitely depends on the quality. Just do your research. Silks can save you a TON of money, but they are still pretty pricy for good quality. There are a million sellers on Etsy, just look around and you will see the noticeable difference.

Now, if it were tacky then how/why do so many quality restaurants and hotels get away with using fake flowers and plants and not get called tacky? If she wants to think it's tacky fine. Don't let it worry you because as you can see ^^ not everyone would agree. I'm sure it will be gorgeous, and I hope you have an amazing day.

I find your friend to be rather rude, everyone has varying preferences but that does not mean that she has to make you feel this way about your choice to not have live flowers.

Quality silk flowers can be really beautiful. Post some pics if you can

We're using mostly real touch (and some silk). We think they look great. If anyone disagrees, I don't give a damn! Your friend is rude and should keep her mouth shut, IMHO. *Edited to fix a typo*

"How rude!" (in my Stephanie Tanner voice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U70oaQR6tKE)

You are getting married this weekend and do not need ANY added worry or stress. Do not allow the negativity of others bring you down on such a beautiful occasion as you wedding. I'm sure your flowers, YOU, and everything else about your wedding will be beautiful!

    Best Wishes,

Tackyyy? I don't think so. I'm using silk flowers (bouquets, bouts, corsages) and they look GORGEOUS!! I was NOT spending money on something that was going to die, I wanted my bouquet to look the same FOREVER! I also added a single yellow rose directly in the middle of all the bouquets except the toss one in loving memory of my grandfather!! I loveeee my bouquets, bouts, and corsages!!

Tell your "friend" it is TACKY to tell anyone their ideas/opinions/budget constraints are tacky!!!! I HATE THAT WORD!!! Its so snobby!!!! It is NEVER tacky to have reasons for why YOU chose what you did for YOUR day.

IMHO -- She is NOT your friend, she should be supportive and helpful, and keep her snooty opinions to herself. She can do what she wants with her own wedding! Sounds like she thinks she is too good for your wedding.

Honestly--I would have slapped her! -- but thats ME.

We create silk bouquets, and can create a complete 17 piece set for an average of $350. It of course depends on your flower choices and the size of the bouquets. We can use a real touch flower which is more life like which is a little more expensive or a less expensive silk. We will work within your budget. The best thing about silk bouquets is the cost, you get to keep them forever, or resell after the wedding. Let me know If I can answer any questions for you! Thanks, Kim
