Silk flowers

Shannon, on February 8, 2022 at 4:11 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 2 19
Hi everyone! I am new here, I have been contemplating using silk flowers for some of my arrangements/bouquets. Does anyone have any suggestions on good places to go? I’m not very crafty so that’s the only reason I am hesitant but luckily I have some amazing bridesmaids that can help! Any other suggestions/tips for silk/fake flowers are welcome. Thank you!

I ordered Ling's Moments silk/foam flowers and am super excited to use them! I like to diy so I got their box sets which were like $30 each but they also have pre-made bouquets and decor. They have a couple of video tutorials I plan on using when I make my bouquet/decor if you decide to diy too. Their site seems to be somewhat seasonal so they add new stuff sometimes. Here are some pictures of what I purchased they're really great quality. I am always trying to send pictures to people of them because I'm obsessed with how they look. The backs are obviously fake (last picture) but I figured no one will see that part so it won't take away from the overall look. Also, I think if you sign up for their emails they give you 10% off your order, that's what I did.

We also went with Ling’s Moment! They are by far the best artificial flowers I’ve ever seen. We bought several pre-made options - sign flowers (set of 2), rose petals, pew flowers (set of 8 x 3), free-standing arrangements (set of 2) for the altar, two DIY boxes for cocktail table centerpieces (also using them at my bridal shower), free-standing flower arrangement for head table (set of 2) and flower arch decor with drapes (set of 5) for behind the head table. We plan to use real flowers for our bouquets, boutonnières, and reception centerpieces, but we definitely could have gone with all artificial flowers. Silk flowers 7

We're sourcing a good chunk of some of the silks we are using from Joann's and Michael's! Because of my wedding date, my florist (mother) went and grabbed a whole slew of silk greenery when everything went on sale after the holidays. She's going to be using them as the base for the centerpieces and some for fill in what we put on our archway we are getting married under.

If you source from a place like Joanns, Michael's etc, keep in mind holiday weekends and coupons are your best friends!

I feel like all I do on these forums lately is recommend Something Borrowed Blooms. They’re silk flowers in premade bouquets that you rent and send back after your wedding. I’m mixing the Cameron and Charlotte collections and my wedding coordinator said she loves working with SBB. I’m super not into the idea of DIYing but also don’t want to drop a lot of money on real flowers so these are perfect.

We are using Calla lilies some white and yellow for our centerpieces for the tables. Yellows Calla lilies my bridesmaids and white for my 2MOHS and yellow bountaires for the groomsmen and groom. And cost less than $300. And they feel like real flowers. I like them a lot

Ling’s has arch decor for each color palette, but the options in our color palette were $98-215 depending on number of pieces/drapes (https://www.lingsmoment.com/products/large-flower-arch-decor-with-drapes-pack-of-5-marsala-blush). They also have hanging garlands and oversized garlands for $65-120 that could also be used for a ceremony backdrop. Ling’s occasionally has sales (usually 10-20% off and larger sales around major holidays), so I’d recommend signing up for their email list or following them on social media.

I recommend Southern Blooms. They have wooden flowers that are already made into bouquets. Their flowers are really pretty and require no work.

Michaels and Hobby Lobby have a good selection. They have some already put together bouquet for about $10 that I use to decorate my house. My Walmart has a great collection right now and they are even cheaper. (Attached is one from Michael's, the lighter one and the other one from hobby lobby)Silk flowers 16
