Silver wedding ring?

Esenlee, on November 24, 2024 at 1:59 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 2

Hi everyone,

I’m starting to look at wedding rings, and I’m seriously leaning toward getting a sterling silver one! I know it’s not the most traditional choice, but I’ve always loved silver—it just feels more “me.” All my other jewelry is silver, and it suits my style and coloring much better than gold.

In my last relationship, I had a white gold ring, and while it was beautiful at first, I didn’t love how the yellow gold underneath started to show through over time. I know you can get it replated, but honestly, that seems like a lot of upkeep. Platinum is gorgeous too, but it’s way out of budget right now.

My only hesitation is whether sterling silver is durable enough for daily wear. I’ve read mixed things about how it holds up over time, especially for something like a wedding ring that you wear every day. Has anyone here chosen a silver wedding ring? How’s it holding up?

I’ve been browsing some options, and DiamondNet has some stunning designs that have me pretty excited. They look timeless and elegant, but I’d love to hear from others who’ve gone this route—any tips or advice?

Would love to know if there’s anything I should consider before deciding. Thanks so much! 😊

My ring is rhodium-plated silver, and I've had to get it re-plated every 8-12 months to keep it looking its best.

I did a little research, apparently sterling silver is pretty malleable and can scratch easily. Platinum is apparently the least high maintenance option, even though it's the most expensive. If it makes you feel better, paying more for two rings once is better than paying for two cheaper rings and having to pay for maintenance.
