Silverware or Wood Utensils?.. thoughts (pics)

Imtheone4Him, on August 6, 2015 at 1:28 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 17

Hi All,

Sorry to be repetitive to some, but we are having a very small outdoor wedding.

Our plates we bought from kohls but ive been thinking about what to use as far as utensils..

Should i break out some vintage silverware from my cabinet.. or buy these wood utensils so we can throw in the fire for easy cleanup after we eat?

Here is a small mock-up i did months ago with just our regular silverware...

or this would be what i would buy.. what do you think?

Either looks good, but I do like the wood utensils! Those are so cute!

Am I looking at turquoise Fiestaware? I had a whole set of that from the 1940's (I sold eight place settings plus the server pieces before I had any idea of its value)? My suggestion is to break out the vintage silverware. If you're not going to use it for something as important as a wedding, when will you use it?

No centerpiece, just some heavy melamine plates from kohls we purchased. Maybe thats why we liked them, does remind me of Fiestaware.

Eeeep please no wood! I would be eating with my hands instead of eating off wood utensils.

Yeah, the wood ones are cute aesthetically, and I get wanting to burn them after, but oh my gosh everything ends up tasting like wood.

I feel like I could not actually cut stuff or get stuff on my fork with the wooden ones. I hate eating with real silver though since it reacts with some stuff from my braces in my mouth and everything end up tasting metallic.

Haha, I guess I'm no help.

I think the wood would just be so weird on mouth-- I mean, the grain of the wood against the lips or on the tongue? It sounds like it'd be a sensory nightmare.... I really like the silverware though-- very classy and cute.

I love the wood, but I think it's too much turquoise and pattern!

I think the wood ones are cute, but look and feel more like a b-day party or shower to me...silverware I think is more appropriate for the occasion Smiley smile

I vote for the silverware. The wood will bring the taste of the wood with it, plus some foods are difficult to eat with "soft" utensils. Due to the possible problems brought with wood utensils like possible breakage, difficult forks, knives that don't work, taste, and more, why risk it? Silverware looks great and you can't go wrong. If you're really attached and want to have some fun with the wood, use it on a specialty table or bring out the forks at cake time.
