Simple Cocktailhour Foods

Beth, on December 25, 2019 at 11:26 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 10
I dont know what to do for my cocktail hour food. I honestly wasnt going to do any food due to the fact my ceremony will be so short (estimates 15 min) and then only an hour for pictures. Then everyones getting 6oz or 8oz steaks plus whatever sides they want.

My moms telling me we need to.

Im trying to keep it cheap because im working solely to pay for the wedding and my hubby to be ia paying bills. My pare ts wont be helping.
Help?

What will guests be doing while you’re taking photos for an hour? That’s usually what cocktail hour is for, to give guests a few bites and drinks, and encouraging them to mingle until the couple arrives. What about a cheese, fruit & cracker display?

Cheese and crackers, veggie and fruit tray. Go to Sam's club or make your own.

Good advice, Kristen! The cocktail hour really doesn't have to be expensive or fancy!

Nope and you're giving them a meal so do not spend too much on that. Smiley smile

Charcuterie boards would be easy and inexpensive.

Those charcuterie plates don’t need to be expensive and they look nice. And just a bit of food to soak up a bit of alcohol so guests don’t get sloshed at cocktail hour. 🥴

Very mini finger sandwiches might work. Or a variety of toppings on crackers or baguette bread slices.

Your guests will need something to do during photos but you can keep it simple and relatively inexpensive. Fruits, cheese and crackers, cookies, cheese and olives, etc. Here is a great article full of ideas of easy finger foods for a crowd.

We actually did our own social hour! It was easy. We had some fruit, little muffins and eggrolls that we just got together. So what the PPs suggest is good - easy to just go to the store and buy some pre made things and throw it on the table nicely.
