Simple, outdoor ceremony?!

Tiffanylibby, on November 1, 2020 at 4:16 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6

Hi there! My fiancé and I have been engaged now for a little over a year and have FINALLY decided how to proceed with our wedding plans that have been up in the air this year!

We have decided to do a small, standing wedding ceremony with some close family (less than 10 people) and want to do it at a local park in our area. We plan to hire an officiant, do a small ceremony, have a close friend take some photos, and then make lunch reservations somewhere for afterwards.

What I am wondering is: do we need to get a permit of some kind to have a small standing ceremony that would be no longer than 30 minutes with such few people?!

Any suggestions or thoughts, please send them my way!

We're actually having a ceremony also at a park and just going to dinner afterwards. We only have 17 guest and they don't require a permit for that. If it was I believe 30 or more, then yes they would require you to have one. That's just in Savannah where we're having at though.

I would contact the park you plan on getting married at.

It depends on where you are marrying. You need to look online and/or contact the park, premises where you plan to marry. The area I'm marrying in requires a permit which cost $25 if there will be 10 or more people. Fortunately, there will be a total of 5 of us so less hassle for us.

It will depend on the park you choose to have your ceremony at. I would contact the park and ask.

I agree with all of the above. Save yourself some time and just call the park district or forest preserve that's in charge of the park? Good luck with your ceremony plans!
