Simple wedding?

Laura, on January 12, 2020 at 12:16 AM Posted in Planning 2 63

Is anyone doing a simple wedding? Not bouquet chandeliers and 8ft arches lined with real flowers? No drone videography... just a simple wedding? I miss hearing about those. Tell me about yours if you are having one?

Me! Beach wedding ceremony with a simple arch ( maybe splurge for the white drapes on it ) not sure if even doing anything along the aisle (like some people do the hooks or lanterns) with only parents, grandparents and siblings (and their kids) so under 30 people.

For reception Over 100 people, simple private hall or city owned building ( rustic barn/event center) with buffet food, not sure what I'm doing to decorate but keeping it real simple yet cute.

I love it! I'm aiming to keep mine simple. It was starting to get away from me - but then I looked at all the stuff on sale on FB Marketplace and I got scarred. I don't want to have boxes and boxes of decor sitting around that I hope will sell later. So... if you have ideas of what you would have done differently - I am all ears!!

I love this! We chose wonderful venues so I don't want to go crazy - I also don't want people to think we didn't 'do everything' - whatever that is... LOL!!!

Our guest list will be a maximum of 10, and we have no plans for a formal reception. I'd feel more comfortable having an informal family meal sometime afterwards to celebrate.

We're undecided about whether we want a BM or MOH.

Both of us are simple, casual, introverts so a large decorated wedding was never on the cards for us.

We are having a destination wedding (Less than 50 people), so it was definitely important to keep it simple- didnt want to be traipsing across the country with a bunch of decor, and way too expensive to fly with it! In order to keep it simple, we will be having the ceremony and the reception at the same hotel everyone is staying at, and using their in-house catering service. The only flowers for the ceremony will be my bouquet, and the only decor will be candles (which we will reuse for the reception tables). The reception will have 1 floral centerpiece per table. One photographer, no drone, no videographer. I hadn’t even planned on having a wedding cake (the food pkg included a dessert, so I didn’t see the point), but my mom finally convinced me to have a cake LOL It will just be a small 2 tier cake though- no massive show piece cake like you always see on tv!

I think mine will be fairly simple, at least compared to the ones I keep seeing. There will be no drone photography although I do love this for capturing all of your guests. I will have a simple floral garland on our arch, but nothing too fancy, it cost under $100 and we will re-purpose it on our sweetheart table. I won't be lining the aisle with anything, I think its an unnecessary expensive. Instead we have these 2 fairly tall lanterns, that we received as a Christmas gift, we will put those at the beginning of the aisle on each side. Our caterer provides individual desserts so we were only going to do a one tier wedding cake just to cut....till my fiance started looking at cakes and decided it didn't look like a wedding cake if it was only a single tier. Our venue is a beautiful white barn (temperature controlled) on a working farm, so there may be animals in the pastures during our ceremony. I'm so excited. What will your wedding be like?

We are getting married in a park under a pretty tower. There aren't going to be any decorations as the park doesn't allow that for wedding with 25 or less.Simple wedding? 1

Me and my fiancé both hate the waste weddings create, so we’re also trying to keep it simple. Found a beautiful nature center for our venue. Wedding is in July, so flowers will be in bloom, letting that speak for most of the decor. One of my BM is a farmer, so I asked her to plant flowers for the wedding. If they bloom on time we should have lots of sunflowers. If not, we’re going to use pothos plants we grow at home for decor. Guest gift is their drinking glass. We’re putting together the playlist for music. Food is American BBQ.and that’s pretty much it! People keep asking for the wedding colors and I realized, I don’t even want to pick a theme. Focus is totally put on talking with people and making sure they know we’re excited to spend the day with them. That’s what it’s about for us ☺️

Mine will be about 50 people. In a beautiful chapel. Our "reception" will be a dinner with cake - cheesecake. Yep, wedding cheesecake with berries. The restaurant where we are having the reception is letting us create our own menu and then guests will order from that menu on the day of. I'm walking myself down the aisle and my sons are meeting me at the front to 'give me away.' Our unity candle will have 3 tapers representing our sons so when we light the center candle we'll be making our family complete. At the end we're being pronounced as a family. "Introducing, for the first time, the Ourlastname family" and we're exiting together with our sons. The dinner will have no music, no garter toss (I'll wear one), no first dances, no bouquet toss, etc. Then we'll head to the after party for the fun. I just want it simple. I know I could do a lot with my venues, but I love them as is...

That chapel is so stunning! Smiley love It doesn't need any decor. It is a decoration in itself.

We had a pretty elaborate venue but in terms of decor... we had no decor lol. Our venue was gorgeous enough, and I didn’t feel like wasting time or money on decorations when I could allocate that money to food, drinks, photography, etc and making the day actually better for guests. I wouldn’t say we had a “simple” wedding, but it was all very practical in terms of where money was spent

I feel like we have done our best to keep our wedding simple. We also started with a $5k budget that has grown into more of an $8k wedding...It does tend to get away from you. We are only inviting 55ppl and found a beautiful outdoor chapel up in the Austin hill country that is actually free. They return your deposit day of wedding. We booked a 3 hour riverboat cruise for the reception that handles all food and allows us to BYOB which turned out to be WAYYYY cheaper! We just had our meeting with Total Wine ( if you have one I highly recommend) We are doing simple small floral arrangements and getting our cake from Sams Club. We had originally set out to just do a Spotify playlist as we dont really plan on doing all the traditional cake cutting and first dances and all that but Fiance is started to stress about if guests will enjoy our eclectic music tastes so me may cave and get a DJ. No videographer, no wedding party, no crazy extras as it just didnt seem worth the cost to us.
