Simple wedding?

Is anyone doing a simple wedding? Not bouquet chandeliers and 8ft arches lined with real flowers? No drone videography... just a simple wedding? I miss hearing about those. Tell me about yours if you are having one?

Fake flowers for all the decorations, let the industrial venue on the Hudson River just be.

DJ, buffet dinner, no photobooths (again, let the view do the work), no favors, no specialty cocktails. No aisle runner, no flower girl/ring bearer, we didn't even think about linens...

We were still formal, but we figured that there is a lot of elegance in simplicity.

Get married, feed your guests, boogie on the dance floor.

Ours is going to be a short ceremony in our favorite park. The views from the park will be decor enough for the ceremony. We are self catering our BBQ reception at the local fairgrounds. Minimal decor there as well. Just good food. Good drinks. And lots of fun-band, games, spending time with 150 of our favorite people.

I love this idea! I am hoping to have a simple wedding, though we will see how things go between families and bridesmaids drama...

Ideally, we will get married in an old fashioned church where my FHs family went. I might get a bucket of daisies and stick a few in vases around the church.

My FH is an arborist so he's going to cut some of the tree branches he already cut for work into little wood plates to put under some mason jars that my mom and I use for canning jelly. We'll stick the remaining daisies in the jars for the reception. Also I'd like to scatter peaches and lemons around the tables. I think they're beautiful! The grocery store sells them for about 60 cents a piece that time of year.

We will have some sort of cake provided by FHs aunt. Spotify will be our DJ, and our 'grand exit' will involve us jumping in his beloved old work truck.

It just fits our personalities better to be simple.

I am SO in love with this! You've inspired me to start propagating all the vines I'm growing in my apartment for the wedding. Your wedding is the dream!

I am trying to do that as I didnt want a big wedding anyways but i was out numbered. So im trying to be a bride on a budget and i think simple looks classy as well. I am doing babys breath in mason jars for center pieces. Thinking of a simple light dress. Groomsmen with pocket squares. Bridesmaids will have babys breath. I am not going over the top on decor unless I make it. Going for a rustic theme so ive seen some pallets to work with.

Ours will be less than 40 people, (in Vegas- so maybe not considered all the way "simple") no decorations except what is already in the chapel, and a Caribbean (fingers crossed) buffet reception at a restaurant close by. No first look, no extra photography except what comes with the package we chose, no flowers except my bouquet and MOH's, and boutonnieres. I don't even know if we are doing a cake! It will cost me less than 5k to do all this and for me that is still a lot!

When he and I first met, as an icebreaker he asked me if I liked cake or pie. I didn't even hesitate in responding cheesecake! We have it now whenever we can! Smiley tongue

Honestly, we would have run away. But our sons need to see this to believe it. I've been on my own since my sons were 18 months and 4 years old. It's been 9 years and it's time for them to see what love looks like - to see their parents, aunts and uncles, and grandparents all supporting this new chapter. It feels so right! If you have other kid inclusive ideas - please let me know!! Smiley heart

For us the emotion and heart matter most.

Oh yes! I only want a simple wedding. Everything from my flowers to my wedding dress will be simple. Wedding dress won't have any lace on it just plain white with lots of elegance. Shoes are simple white. I hate those extra rhinestones that all brides keep wearing, it's just not my style and I feel as if it's overrated. Flowers will be at a minimum as well. I'll be having small tropical centerpieces. With gold mini candles around the centerpiece. Possibly a small metal arch with some palm leaves around it. Going to have 80 or less people at my wedding, buffet style with a bar and that is really it. I don't think the look of the wedding matters as much as knowing your guests are enjoying their time. That is where I want to spend more time in, my fiance, family, and friends.

Yes, I am! I wish I had the money to splurge, but I know if I did, I couldn't justify a $20k+ wedding. We're STILL looking for the perfect ceremony spot. Going for a woodsy, outdoorsy vibe - may just have the ceremony at the ranch we live on. And our intimate reception (40 people) will be at a local "beach club" with a cute outdoor space with strung lights, and an indoor area with the bar/dance floor. It wasn't my first choice, but I'm looking forward to what we'll make of it! Going to try and dress it up with some décor, cute wood slabs for centerpieces and maybe some lanterns and what not.

    Mine was fairly simple.

3 bridesmaids and groomsmen, one ring bearer (stepson), we had flowers but just surrounding the arch and little leaves on the tables. Food and drinks were all inclusive. I didn't even wear a veil and wore sneakers! Limited photography and no video. It was way more about the day and experience than the details.

We are using his parents' back yard as our ceremony and reception site. We are relying on his parents' flowers and beautiful pool as the backdrop for our 80 or so guests, with eucalyptus runners down the bare, vineyard-style wood tables, candles, and geometric gold accents here and there (simple but hopefully super elegant). His parents are getting a fountain for the pool, which I'm very excited about! Our dance floor will be their patio area, which will also serve as our ceremony site. No professional photobooths or djs, just good drinks and food. (FYI, I just found out that Spotify allows you to add in your own music AND you can overlap the songs so that there is no down time between songs. That's probably old news, but new to me!) We'll have a couple of my niece's friends carry appetizers around during cocktail hour and a buffet dinner from a restaurant nearby. My dress will be simple and lovely - made by my aunt - no fancy shoes or anything. It is going to be a simple, classy, and hella fun event with us surrounded by all the people that matter and who we love. Can't get any better than that!
