Single rose for bridesmaids?

Good morning! I would appreciate your thoughts on using a single long-stemmed rose for the bridesmaids to carry. I don't want to spend a ton when the bouquets will just be put down and forgotten after the ceremony but I do want them to have something in their hands. I am only worried that it might fall apart.

My SIL had us all have one sunflower wrapped with a bow. Looked nice, and gave us all something to hold but not anything to really look after once the ceremony was done. So maybe not a rose, but a flower would be nice

Super honest? I think it looks weird and unfinished, as though you forgot about bouquets and just handed everybody a rose as a placeholder.

I do some floral arranging as a semi-serious hobby (as in, I have exhibited in amateur competitive shows and received multiple awards over the years.) I normally strongly advise people to avoid even thinking about DIY flowers due to the amount of work and skill involved, but I think this might be a rare exception.

You could do something like the image below in 10 minutes or less per bouquet. You just need to cut the stems so they are all the same length and then wrap a section with floral tape (and if you put ribbon over the tape it will look a bit more polished.) You can typically buy two dozen roses for about $20, and that would make 2 or possibly even 3 bouquets. It won't look professional, but it will be better than just a single flower.

I agree with everyone, one rose would look odd. Look into other flowers that aren't expensive, there are tons!

Did you see the pictures of the bridesmaids that have a single huge flower? Try looking that up.

I was thinking of doing a singular sunflower. Now I'm wondering if that would be weird

I feel like a single sunflower would be fine as they are large flowers, unlike roses

If you're stuck on roses, what about an old english rose? They're very similar to peonies.

I'm doing this for my bridesmaids. I think yours needs something added to it.

If they were real flowers (not artificial) I think it would be pretty!

What about a group of three?

Personally I wouldn't care less as a guest so whatever you'll be happy with in pictures.

I agree with pp, one looks lonely. What about hydrangea's they come in all kinds of colors and look full with just a stem or two.

Also I ordered maybe 80-85 stems in three colors for less than 200 bucks for my centerpieces.

You can add the greenery and baby breath to add something. That would go along way and still cost effective.

I think a rose would be a little strange. Like PP's mentioned baby's breath would be a good alternative. My FSIL made bouquets for her wedding using baby's breath and she added a blush tint to it in order to go with the neutral colors.
