Size 12 brides?

I love looking at all your wedding gowns but so many of you seem to have the perfect figures in your dresses! I'd love to see some of you in your dresses that are close to my size so I can have a reference. Just feeling a little sulky right now about my size and looking for a pick me up!

I thought I needed to go with an A line or ball gown but I was so surprised that the trumpet and fit and flare styles looked great on my curves! Don't limit the dresses you try on.

I ended up with an a-line gown but while shopping I was surprised to discover I also really felt great in some closer-fitting silhouettes. My second choice was a mermaid.

I'm a street size 12, bridal size ordered was 16. This is me squeezed into a sample size 10 Smiley smile

I was definitely feeling down and anxious about dress shopping especially since my favorite silhouette was mermaid/fit and flare and I thought there was no way I could pull one off, but I loved so many it was hard to choose! Bridal gowns are really unlike shopping for any other clothing, they're usually so flattering and really make you feel great!

Don't limit yourself in your first appointment! You never know! The first dress I shared is the current favorite, and I almost didn't try it on because it was a drop waist and I had tried one on before that made me look pregnant! But the consultant assured me it wouldn't do that, and I trusted her, and viola! Family favorite and possibly "the one"!

@ashleyr I wondered about that. Some of my friends said the same thing about bridal gowns so I hope so! After "normal" dress shopping I usually go home feeling kind of defeated.

The problem is, articles and blogs, etc try to lump women into fruit categories (come on- pears? Apples? Human-maybe?) and certain fruits ONLY look good in certain silhouette's...well this had me super bummed because I came to the conclusion that I'm pear shaped (mmmmmmm pearsssss) so according to obnoxious internet strangers I could only possibly look halfway decent in an A-line gown. Well I personally happen to hate A-line gowns so I instantly felt down. Guess what? When I went shopping I thought I looked shapeless and frumpy in the 2 A-lines I tried on, and felt like I totally rocked the mermaids and dropped waist gowns. Try on every shape, and you will find something you love. Because we are not fruit.

I'm a street size 12/14 and I haven't gone shopping yet either and I've been nervous too. Coming on WW and seeing curvy brides in all types of dresses has boosted my confidence so much! I also thought I was doomed to one style of dress but when I do go shopping I plan to try on a little of everything.

10-12 in street sizes. My dress is a size 18. I could fit in the 16 but couldn't sit down because my hips are too wide lol!

    Why feel sulky?

I'm of the opinion that women's bodies are always works of art, no matter what size. ;-)

Here's mine!! I was self conscious too but then I was so surprised how the corseted back held everything in! Haha you wouldn't guess that this dress is a size 16 ... But really, try on what makes you happy, not what a web page tells you!
