Skin care routines??

Kacey , on September 12, 2019 at 8:34 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 1 18
What does everyone's skin care routines look like? I'm 37 days out and breaking out from the stress.
Any specific brands you recommend? Anything from a drug store that you've found?

I use Mary Kay as a brand and I am super happy with it. I cleanse and moisturize every morning and every night. I do a charcoal mask (amazing for acne!!) 2 times a week and a facial peel 2 times a week with a vitamin c treatment after I do the facial peel. Sometimes I will swap the facial peel for a microdermabrasion treatment. I use Two types of skincare: one type for acne and one for aging and I’ll alternate between the two. I also make sure to use foundation with spf every day.

    I use:
Clinique #2 clarifying lotion as needed, extra mild face wash3x wk, and take the day off makeup remover as needed.
Timeless CoQ10 serum as my moisturizer (amazing) daily.
The ordinary squalene cleanser 4x wk.
I also use those little silicone "scrubbers" for exfoliating when cleaning. Super gentle.

I use a 3 step skincare line called Stop Being So Sensitive, it reduces rosacea inflammation and just makes my skin clearer in general.

I cant use anything from the drugstore... everything makes me breakout worse or break out in hives, so I have to use my expensive stuff. But I started noticing patterns in my stress levels, the type I eat and my breakouts, so I avoid most of it now.

I have really sensitive skin. The cheapest things I found that really help are The Body Shop tea tree face wash, Neutrogena oil free sensitive skin moisturizer or Origins oil free night a mins. I like Neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair serum for skin tightening.

I use drunk elephant which is pretty pricey but it has totally fixed my skin. That said, the ordinary is very reasonable (you can buy on amazon or at Sephora but almost everything is under $20, a lot of items under $10), high quality ingredients, and doesn’t have a lot of added ingredients that may irritate your skin. Mid range, there’s a brand I’ve bought at Sephora and Ulta called First Aid Beauty. They have pre-soaked toning pads that helped my breakouts and kept my skin looking really fresh and clear, as well as a hydrating serum gel moisturizer that was fantastic for balancing my skin without making it greasy. Hope this helps!

I have struggled with bad acne for a while but I finally got a good routine down this past year. I use miceller water (any brand), witch hazel toner and this acne/stress control neutrogena toner with an oil free moisturizer every morning and night! If your skin is oily try getting a serum/oil to use at night while you’re sleeping to try and balance out how much oil your skin is producing? 🤔 I’m not a professional so not sure if that’s really how it works but I’ve learned that helps my skin! Haha. I have also noticed if I avoid sugar my skin doesn’t break out as bad. Agree with the other girls for anything charcoal! Charcoal spot treatments or face masks are always good. Good luck!!!

I have been breaking out too, especially on my forehead and back. Someone recommended the neurogena body scrub for acne and it works great almost completely gone.

I have very oily, acne prone skin:

    Daily routine:

    1. Coconut oil to take of mascara with a cotton round if I have any on.

    2. Dry wash face with Cerave Foaming Face Cleanser (this helps get the majority of makeup/dirt off).

    3. Activate with water using fingers, rinse off and pat dry.

    4. Wash as usual with Cerave Foaming Face Cleanser using a soft spin brush (twice a week I switch between the soft and exfoliating brush head).

    5. Depending on the day of the week I will do one mask/scrub. Either an exfoliating scrub (I have two one for blackheads and another for acne I switch between)- pure clay mask by loreal, or bubble mask by elf.

    6. Tone using Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner.

    7. Use tea tree oil as a spot treatment on any active blemishes.

    8. Moisturize using Moo Goo's Natural Blemish Cleansing Moisturizer.

    9. Lastly I use one of three oils depening on my skin that week: Rosehip Seed oil, Vitamin E oil or Tamanu oil. Last week I was using Vitamin E pills, this week I've been using Tamanu oil.

You’re super close to the wedding to be trying out a lot of new products tbh. Some product reactions can take months to heal. I’d stick to super basics. A very gentle cleanser like CeraVe, a GENTLE exfoliator about once a week, and plenty of sunscreen and lightweight moisturizer. Maybe a vitamin c serum (the Versed brand at Target is great.)

but most importantly: lots of water, no sleeping in makeup, getting 8 hours of sleep, and tons of fruits and veggies. Cut out dairy if you can. I noticed the biggest changes in my skin when I improved my lifestyle.

I'd hesitate trying anything new this close to the wedding. I'd use something like Neutrogena gentle cleansers or toner. I'd drink a ton of water & just stay on top of washing your face twice a day.

I drink miracle water and it works like a charm. It's 2 liters of water, a medium cucumber, lemon and about 10-12 mint leaves, steep overnight in the fridge and drink every day. It also helps weight loss as well.

Hey, I honestly drink tons of water, I use Aveeno in the morning and before bed, tea tree oil on any breakout ( they honestly are dried out after 2-3 days) and I use a Moisturizer from Sephora. Hope you find something that works.

Depends on your skin type. I have oily/combination skin so some of my products might not be best for you if you have dry skin:

    - I highly recommend the Clinique 3-Step skin care regimen. You can find it at Sephora, Ulta or a department store. If you go with a department store, you might even be able to get the products as free samples, since you don't have that much time before your wedding. The products (cleanser, toner and moisturizer) are tailored to your skin type. I had acne in college from stress and I've been using this for years and it's kept my breakouts at bay.

    - Vitamin C is so crucial. Uneven skin tone, rough texture, fine lines, acne scars, general dullness... you name it, it will fix it. I recommend checking out The Ordinary's Ascorbic Acid serum (and honestly all of the products because you can't beat quality skin care products for $10).

    - Chemical exfoliants are your friend. I recommend Paula's Choice BHA Liquid Exfoliant. My skin is a bit on the sensitive side so I use this maybe 3x per week at night. BHA (Beta hydroxy acid) sheds built-up layers of skin, which will unclog your pores to prevent breakouts.

    - Clay masks -- I love 'em! They help purge those pores. I recommend Philosophy's Purity Made Simple Pore Extractor Exfoliating Clay Mask. It's a bit pricey, but it's great. The clay draws out the excess oil from your pores, and there is a little bit of grit to it to help you exfoliate as you rinse. If you go with this mask, use maybe once a week so you're not being too harsh with your skin. If you want a cheaper and less exfoliant-y option, I recommend Skinfood's Egg White Pore Mask.

    - If you have oily skin, moisturizing is crucial. Your skin is oily because it actually is really dry and your skin is overcompensating by producing a ton of oil -- weird! I love my Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel (if you have dry skin, there's a Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion which is a little bit thicker). It's lightweight and soaks into my skin without feeling greasy. You can find it at department stores, Ulta, Sephora and I think even Walmart. If you do have dry skin, Neutrogena has a Hydroboost Gel with Hylaronic Acid that's supposed to be really good and you can find it in drugstores.

    - If you need a spot treatment, I recommend Clean & Clear's Spot Treatment with Witch Hazel. It's great for drying out break-out areas.

    - Finally... sunscreen! As you start to use chemical exfoliants like AHA/BHA or Vitamin C, you'll be more prone to sunburns so you'll definitely want a good sunscreen. My all-time favorite is Shiseido Urban Environment Oil-Free Broad Spectrum Sunscreen because I hate the greasy sunscreen feel and this feels like you're not wearing anything at all. Also, it's important to get a broad spectrum sunscreen so you're blocking out UV in its entirety. La Roche-Posay also makes an Oil-Free Sunscreen , which is a little cheaper and you can pick up at a CVS or Walgreens.
