Skipping the expensive couple gifts

Michelle, on March 24, 2021 at 2:20 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 15

Is anyone only gifting each other with vows and rings ( or whatever you exchange during the ceremony in place of rings)?

We skipped the couples gifts. We were each other’s gifts. 😂

We agreed that the wedding and honeymoon were gift enough.

We didn't do gifts. We got married and enjoyed our honeymoon. That was gift enough for us.

We didn’t do gifts as we didn’t think it was necessary at all

We are not exchanging wedding gifts prior to the ceremony. FH and I talked about it, and we both feel that the wedding and the exchange of vows ARE our gifts. We are planning to exchange letters to one another before the ceremony also.

We're not exchanging gifts! When I asked my FH if he was ok with not giving each other gifts he was very confused about why we would exchange gifts in the first place.

We did not exchange gifts. I never understood that, I think it’s a newer tradition.

I tend to agree. I was never aware this was a thing before WW and we know people from all across the country

This trend probably comes from wedding tv shows, the same as when the couple gift both moms with a bouquet at the reception or when the bride brings the future MIL to her dress appointments/fittings.

We are only gifting each other with vows, rings and the honeymoon.

We used to gift each other before we got engaged and ... We'll do it after so we don't see the point in exchanging gifts on the day of. We think the same about exchanging a letter or a note.

Sounds like the vows and honeymoon are more than heartfelt on their own and everything else is media extras.

We didn't change our mind son this but I'm "secretly" planning to buy 3/4 small, cheap, funny gifts, just for fun. I'm not going to give them on the wedding day but about one week prior. I know her, she'll love them.
