Slim Down for the Gown!

Samantha, on June 29, 2021 at 9:37 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 1 31
Is anyone else doing a slim down for their gown?? I've lost 23 pounds and want to lose another 30 pounds so that I'm back at a healthy weight and look how I envision myself in my dream dress.

I didn't do it specifically for my wedding dress, but I lost 30lbs over the course of a year. Covid postponed my wedding and I had to go buy a new dress because I lost too much weight! Congrats on the current weight loss what an accomplishment!

Great job on the weight loss! I intially wanted to loose weight for the wedding/dress when I bought my dress in November 2019 for our October 2020 wedding. With the postponement and stress that revovled around my fiance losing his job due to COVID, I gained some weight. I want to lose the last 8-10 pounds so I am at the weight I was when I bought the dress and continue to work on a healthly lifestyle after. Good luck reaching your goals!

I’m not a gym rat by any means, but just been running to days on and then one day off, curbing my sugar intake and trying to eat more fruits/veggies and just better in general. No sugary drinks or fast food. I feel good, and know I’ll never be super skinny like i used to again which is fine I’m not concerned with the number. I just want to feel good

Something that has helped get my weight down (and shape my legs!) is outdoor running, specifically the 20 week half marathon training plan. Are you drinking enough water? I agree with you about wanting to feel good! I'll incorporate strength training (Legs, bis and tris, shoulders and back) on days I'm not running.

I lost about 12-14 pounds during quarantine doing Noom. I stopped doing it but I've been somewhat consistent with eating and working out. My goal was 20 before my wedding (I started before he officially proposed xD). My plan is the, to sign up for private training classes at the boxing gym we used to go to before quarantine to see if I could lose the last few pounds the month before the wedding. Also my dress is backless so I want to make sure my back and arms are nice and toned

Mine is an illusion back and I definitely don't want to have back fat showing! We don't have a boxing gym (you're lucky!) so I'm waiting for the gym pool to open up...maybe it will in August *fingers crossed*

I wouldn't say it's FOR the wedding as such, although it is such a fantastic motivator because it's a specific deadline!

I had been steadily gaining weight after an injury so I knew I wanted to get back to what I looked like before that anyway, especially if we plan to start a family after we get married. I began working out more and doing intermittent fasting in the hopes of losing some, and I've lost about 12kg/25 pounds-ish in the last 18 months. I would like to lose about another 3-5kg/6-10 pounds, but this last little bit is just... not coming off. I know it's partially because it would likely be the lightest I've been since I've been an adult, but also because I'm very strict during the working week and much less so on the weekends.

Thing is, I honestly can't face depriving myself 7 days a week without feeling deeply depressed. We are currently in a lockdown in our city though, so my fiance and I can't go out for brunch or coffee anyway, so maybe that will make a difference! How are you guys staying motivated?

I struggle with motivation daily. But what keeps me moving is how my clothes fit and what I'm seeing in the mirror when I'm naked. I don't want to just feel good in my dress and everyday clothes. I want to feel good no matter what I'm wearing or not wearing!

Yes I’m trying! It seems to be going very slowly though Smiley sad and I wanted to get to my goal by mid-August for dress fitting!

Just remember that you didn't gain all of the weight in one day and it won't come off in one day. One step at a time Smiley smile

Yes, this is my motivation too! It's hard when the numbers on the scale day-to-day don't reflect the effort! We're in a lockdown at the moment and I guess I'm just worried I'll put on weight during it, and I don't really have the time to backslide.

Just acknowledge that there will be setbacks but it's just one day at a time. The weight will come off. Patience and consistency is key!
