Slim fast only works because it restricts calories. If you stop using it and eating normally, you will gain weight back.

Your better bet is to eat differently. Eat smaller portions, whole foods, don't drink your calories with pop or juice, and exercise with strength training and weights.

I drink it usually in the mornings. Just started back with it again, but it has helped me in the past!

Fad diets are terrible for you.

The secret to weight-loss is eating healthy and exercise.

The fact that it has "Fast" in the name has always been a red flag to me. There is no quick fix - and it's about a change in lifestyle. It takes time but changing your eating habits is the way to go, and exercising 3-5 days a week.

For the record, I've known people who have tried Slim Fast and they said they just felt hungry all the time to no effect.

I just eat "clean" and workout. I'm part of a small, motivational group of women on FB who all share what they're eating, doing for workout, etc. to keep each other on track.

We welcome new ladies! If you'd like the info, let me know and I'll give you my email address to touch base to add you.

Btw, meant to say you have to change your diet...eat healthy and clean... or it's just going to come right back.

I used to drink Slim Fast for breakfast when I was younger because I'm one of those people that can't eat before at least an hour after waking up.

They don't hold you over. At all.

    Do what @Jessie said.

No!!!!!!! If you want to replace some meals with smoothies (smoothies, not juices) then put REAL veggies in them and flavor with almond milk, orange juice, or berries. My breakfasts are often:

    two handfuls of spinach

    one cup of broccoli

    1/4 cup blueberries

    3/4 cup almond milk

water added until it blends smoothly

That is 3 superfoods that keep you full! Do that and find other veggie based smoothie recipes to keep you on track rather than Slimfast. That chemical laden trash kills your metabolism and digestive system, robbing you of necessary nutrients your body needs and you'll gain it all back in spades because it isn't sustainable.

You can do it!! Just not on slimfast. Smiley winking

I follow the restrictions on the bottle. 2 drinks a day, 3 of their snacks or healthy snacks like an apple, and 1 500-600 calorie meal and I work out every day. I do see a difference especially when I stopped for a couple weeks, I noticed weight gain and felt sluggish so I'm back on it.

I used the after my daughter. It was simple to follow and I ate healthy snacks and clean dinners. It was a great kickstart and thirty pounds fell off. Right from that I jumped into clean eating and continued to workout. I didn't gain any of the weight back when I switched over, I kept losing. But I think the key for me was to only use it as a stepping stone and to eat healthy when I wasn't using the products. I also wasn't hungry throughout the day because I drank a ton of water.

Do I think I needed slim fast? No. I could have done the same thing eating all healthy food. But the ease of grab and go for two meals a day was nice being a working mom of a new baby. Good luck!!

Ive done the whole eat healthy and exercise thing but since giving birth I'm having a difficult time. I used to just eat healthy and the pounds would come off.

Anyways, thanks for the opinions and helpful insight Smiley smile

@FutureBennis-are you breastfeeding? How old is your child? Your body changes after having a baby. Has your thyroid been checked? See your doctor and a nutritionist. Anything that severely restricts calories will cause you to lose weight but once you start eating normally, you will gain the weight back.

@Jessie I was an exclusive pumper because baby girl couldn't latch. She's 4 1/2 months old now. I was told while I was preggo that I would loose a lot weight breastfeeding the first few months, but since that didn't go as planned I kept a good amount. I gained a total of 75lbs during pregnancy (even though I ate mostly healthy after 3 months, the burger craving the first 3 months was crazy) I lost 45lbs of it during the first 2 weeks. I think majority was water weight. I had a blood test done after and I was severely calcium, iron and protein deficient. After the results, I began to wean myself from the pump after 2.5 months. I am eating well and moving more, but I see no difference. I haven't had a thyroid panel done since 2015 so maybe I should get another one done. Thyroid issues run in the family.

@Olivia where can I get those shakes?

I used to drink it in the morning and make it into a shake with ice and strawberries, but after reading something somewhere else I found out there is high amounts of sugar in it! Try looking for another meal replacement with little to no sugar.

I now add just a little to my overnight oats to give them more flavor and sweetness.

Okay, this is the deal with breastfeeding. Your body will hang onto 10-15 extra lbs so that you have enough energy to produce milk. You have to constantly eat when you are breastfeeding and pumping. It's like running a marathon. FH used to leave snacks and water by my chair so when I got up in the middle of the night I'd eat. The lady 10 lbs didn't go away until my son fully weaned. It's dangerous to calorie restrict if you are breastfeeding. You need to speak to a lactation consultant.

ETA: if you were deficient, your doctor should have adjusted your diet and given you supplements. Not told you to wean.

Slim Fast is just calorie control. You eat small snacks/meals several times instead of the big three. You can do it yourself and get healthy snacks you like instead of the Slim Fast ones, like the 100-cal packs. I follow a similar small meal regimen using salads for lunch, popcorn or nuts for a snack, granola bars and such, and properly portioned 5-600 calorie dinners.

Yeah I realized after weaning that my doctor wasn't the best. My daughter still has a nice freezer stash though. I'll be switching docs before next yearly exam. Now that I'm weaned, I want to try to loose this extra weight. I'm 191 now and I'd love to lose 40lbs and get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. I guess Im just being impatient.

Honestly, I had no idea Slim Fast was still around. You are better off doing what the PP's said, small meals and snacks throughout the day. Slim Fast in not filling and you will just get hungry soon after.

You can relactate. I highly recommend a lactation consultant.
