Small cake just for cake cutting only

clarkinseywedding, on June 30, 2015 at 11:13 AM Posted in Planning 0 1

My fiancé and I are having a brunch wedding and there's a whole breakfast pastries table during the main course and assorted mini pastries and cakes for dessert. We are on a very tight budget and are torn on the wedding cake. We would like to have just a small, one tier cake for us to cut. It's probably either that or nothing at all. Is it rude to have a cake just for us and other cakes and pastries for the guests?

We had a dessert table with 7 kinds of cake. DH and I used the 10" 2 layer Italian Cream cake as our cutting cake. We also had 6 other 10" - 14" two layer cakes in other flavors. The caterers sliced all the cakes and the guests could choose.

Even if your cutting cake is smaller and really only serves the two of you as long as your guests have other dessert options I think you are fine.
