Small Elopement Now, Big Party Later

My husband and I had a minimony in October and our big wedding is scheduled for March 2021. We kept some of the traditions for our minimony (my dad walked me down the aisle, my husband didn't see me until I walked in, had a flower girl & ring bearers). We're saving the rest of the traditions for our big wedding, including me wearing my big dress for the first time

I've had a couple of friends do this! Their weddings were planning for after COVID hit - most of their weddings were supposed to be between March and October of 2020. A few of them still got married on their regular date with just family and are planning their receptions for later this year. One of my friends just decided to completely postpone their wedding until after all COVID restrictions are lifted in most states. Then she plans on re-planning her wedding.

The fiancé and I had originally planned on having a wedding on July 12, 2021. Before we could announce it through our Save The Dates, COVID forced us to reconsider. We thought about moving up and moving back the wedding ceremony with a smaller guest list... we played around with dates and locations. We finally opted to elope beachside on our original date. We will be letting our guests know that we will be inviting them to a reception in the near future.

I am considering this right now. We haven't picked a date though...but we might go with this route as well. We didn't want to have a big wedding originally and with all the covid restrictions, it makes sense to do something small first, then if we decide to, big later.

We aren't, but our friends are doing this! The bride has always wanted to elope, so they're doing that in Hawaii then planning a celebration with everyone later on when they come back.
