Small Engagement Party Ideas?

Talia, on November 11, 2020 at 10:26 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 6
So my fiancé and I are planning a small engagement party. We’re only expecting roughly 20 people - just our closest friends, no family. There’s this hotel in town that we like and we want to have it in one of their smaller rooms. Instead of dinner, we thought a cocktail party would be better, as it’ll allow our guests to mingle and get to know each other (his friends have actually never met my friends). The food and the booze will be provided by the hotel so we got that figured out. I’m basically just stumped on... everything else lol! I’m not sure what to do for music. I feel like a DJ would be too much as there’s only going to be 20 of us. Also, I’m not sure what activities we should do. I just feel like we need another way to entertain our guests.

Not sure where you live but many of my loved ones refyse to dine and drink indoors. So, I wouldn't have a good turnout. And those that attend would wear masks making it difficult to hear them when speaking. I'm trying to plan all my small gatherings in an outdoor setting.

Use a playlist and Bluetooth speaker for the music. As far as entertainment you can play some "ice breakers" or the traditional "how well do you know the couple" games

You could just stream your own music just for background noise. Check with the hotel to see hips you can do that. You don’t have to do games- this is just a getting to know you thing. Or you can get some cards...

What you've described is perfect Talia!! I'd just set up playlist (or find a good one on Spotify) and speakers for music, and you could play the shoe game or the newlywed game if you want to do an ice breaker!

Also setting up pictures of you both as kids is a great conversation starter for your friends & family! Smiley heart

We live in Texas. And I should’ve mentioned that we’re not having this party until August. We planned it that far out to be as safe as possible.

Okay in that case I definitely recommend an outdoor setting with shade.
