Small engagement rings unite!

I recently saw a Facebook post that's been floating around in my feed. It's a picture of a girl wearing a small solitaire diamond engagement ring. I recently saw a Facebook post that's been floating around in my feed. It's a picture of a girl wearing a small solitaire diamond engagement ring. The caption read: "If he proposed to you with this, would you say yes?" I was saddened and shocked by all the girls who said "NO!" See, my engagement ring was a little marquise diamond, probably about .26 carats. I absolutely LOVED it, and with the wedding band, I LOVE it all the more! (To put it in my husbands words, he wanted to "put a crown" on my finger, and gave me a "crown fitted for a queen!") I remember back when I got engaged, people seemed so disappointed when they saw my e-ring. "Is this really what you wanted?" "Do you plan on upgrading it?" The best compliment I received was "Oh..! It's so you..."

I kinda wanted to make a "small engagement ring pride-post" for you gals out there that love their little rings but feel like society is telling them that a ring has to prove their worth. PS, you are more worthy than any e-ring!!

To anyone who has been made to feel like they should be ashamed of their ring remember this saying, "Don't cast your pearls among the swine. They will only be trampled on."

Mine is small too but he picked it out. The first I've he got was fake (lol. They lied to him. I think he got it at khols or something) but this one was from zales. And i love it. Its cute. The old one, even though it turned my finger green, was dipped in clear nail polish and hangs around my neck for sentimental value.

I don't know if my ring would be considered "small" - it's 1 total carat weight, not sure what the centre stone is but the ring itself has 17 diamonds total so it can't be much bigger than .5.

No one has made any comments about it being small. In fact quite the opposite. A lot of the girls go "WOW IT'S SO BIG" and I always want to reply "it's just the setting." I don't care about the size anyway, it was about the style I liked. I tried solitaire 1-1.5 carats that just looked ridiculous on my thin fingers, and same with the halo styles.

I love it, it's perfectly my style, and FH and I picked it out together. We both knew it was the right one when I put it on. Even so, it's incredibly impractical for me to wear to work (I'm a nurse) so for my wedding band, I just chose a plain, 10k white gold band.

I love reading the stories behind everyone's rings!

I only get compliments on my ring--together it equals .50 ctw, but my finger size is 4.25 so it looks big on my tiny finger, the halo setting, I think, makes it look bigger. In all honesty, I wouldn't want it to be bigger. My FH picked it on his own and he did such a great job. I absolutely love it!

I was previously married, and that engagement ring had a 1.0 ctw pear-shape solitaire with baguettes on both sides, I thought it was huge, it looked too big for my finger (ex wanted it bigger but I had to say no) and was always questioned if it was real.

So, has other PPs have said, you can not satisfy everyone, it's unfortunate that people will judge.

So I'm commenting because I love this post. My engagement ring is a family heirloom and when FH gave it to me it meant become part of my family. It's antique and I'm an old fashioned girl so it was just meant to be. And I loved that it was a good luck charm from a very successful marriage!

Btw anyone ever heard the story of how diamonds became the engagement stone? it's atrocious.

I love my ring! It comes out to a carat,

    center stone and side stones

combined. We picked it out together, he later told me he couldn't afford to get the ring, which I completely understood. He surprised me when he proposed years later, and told me the very next day he starting doing payments on it. It looks larger in the photo, I thinks it's perfect. We are pretty young, both 21.

I have a 0.5 carat ring and I love it!!!! The center stone was FH grandmas and I can only hope to have a marriage like theirs was. It sparkles like crazy to and I couldn't be happier.

He bought mine off of etsy and it's perfect for me. I love the leaves and how much time went into the design. Couldn't ask for anything more!

We are thinking of "upgrading", but only because we didn't know the prongs for the heart cut would end up hiding so much of the shape. We are thinking of going up to .45ish. It should be larger by enough for the shape to be more noticeable, but not overpower the setting both of us fell in love with.

I love hearing everyone's stories! I loved shopping with FH. It was fun to see how much we could tell what the other wanted. I get happy tears over a perfect choice made by people's FH/FW. Big, small, or in between: lovely rings. ETA: grammar.

@Kelly, no it was designed by a jeweler, very close to Steven Singer's Olivia ring.

I love my e-ring.....FH new I wanted something different & unique but, also within budget. I am unsure of the size of my ring but, I don't really care.

ETA: My ring is perfect for me. But, at the end of the day I would have been happy with whatever FH bought me regardless of size, stone or anything. People are always going to say things because of different taste and class. Just brush off the comments, there opinions don't matter.

Some of you need a serious reality check, if you think your ring is small I feel sorry for your future husbands.

I just came across this thread and I think it's all relative, just like any budget. The ring I got is about 1 probably, however it's definitely considered small in the town I live in. I think most people who have said it's small aren't bashing their husbands, but are just appreciating that they purchased this ring at x stage of their life, or used money on other things, or liked how a specific style cost more. I don't think I need a reality check nor do i feel sorry for my husband lol, just that I happen to have a community that's very wealthy. What I consider small is not having to go into debt/spend 3 months worth of income on a ring, but everyone's definition is different.

In my defense, I don’t think my ring is small and I definitely wasn’t complaining, I love my ring! It is all relative though. My ring IS small compared to some rings my friends have, but it’s big compared to others. The “average” size for an engagement ring center stone is 1 carat, but I put that in quotes because of course that’s taking into account sizes like Kim Kardashian’s 15 carat ring.

I think the point of this thread was a big WTF to people commenting on ring size and how rude it is. I know my feelings would be very hurt if someone made a comment about my ring being small, or getting a condescending “aw how cute…” because I would feel like they were insulting my FH and even our relationship. What, is the minimum size for true love 2 carats? LOL. Some people definitely need a reality check!

I'm confused by this thread, 1. because hypocrisy, Can you imagine if "big engagement rings unite" was a thread. 2. because I've literally never heard that 1 carat was a small ring, but mostly #1

Some of these rings I would never consider small. Seems like a few humble brags in this thread.

Some of these rings are bigger than mine (looking at you 1 ct people) and mine is ginormous and I have gotten many comments on it being large. Some of you need a reality check, jeez. There are better ways to feel good about yourself.
