Small, Short, and Sweet Ceremony

Olivia, on December 21, 2018 at 1:15 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 8

Hello! With only 11 days left I'm feelings some pressure to get everything nailed down finally. My pastor wants to meet with my fiance and I to discuss order and what we'd like. The only problem is, he has never attended a wedding and I haven't been to one since I was 8! Pinterest has great ideas but I'm wondering if I could ask what some of you are doing.

Background on our ceremony:

Guests: Pastor and his family, FH's mom and step-dad, my dad and siblings, and my grandparents.

Location: Church

Time: 11am

I am going to ask my dad to hold my wedding ring, and my FH's mom to hold his, so we can involve our parents in the ceremony a little bit. My dad will walk be down the "aisle". It is a Christian ceremony but there is so much that you can add and take away and it is a little overwhelming.

If anyone could give me some input, or inspiration, based on their big day, I would really appreciate it.

I think what you have in mind is good. I’m adding a unity ceremony.

Hey Kenisha, I love the unity ceremony , however the sand can get messy, candles can blow out, so we did a unity cross!

Your pastor should be able to lead you through the timeline. If you want some sample ceremonies, we found Officiant Eric website to be helpful.

Hi Olivia!! You can always ask your pastor what they've seen at weddings, what parts and bits are needed and what is optional. I've been to weddings that are straight forward mass and to other weddings that mix and match mass and more secular wedding ideas.

Kenisha's idea of a unity ceremony can be cool. You can bring your families up and together light a candle, or you can do it by yourselves.

Here was our ceremony order of events. It was a Christian ceremony at a Presbyterian church. It was about an hour long mainly because the pastor's message was about 30 minutes.

Your pastor should give you some options. But usually it’s prelude, processional, father gives bride away, introduction/pastor speech, maybe a prayer, declaration of intent (I do), maybe a reading, vows, rings, unity, pronouncement, kiss, presentation of bride and groom, recessional, postlude
