Dq'enterprise, on September 29, 2021 at 4:46 AM Posted in Planning 0 15
Im new here trying to plan a very small wedding because me and my SO don't have a lot of family and friends. Any suggestions? Tips? Guidance would be helpful. I want to hear some things you did or tried!

You can definitely throw a minimony/microwedding. Since it won't be big, you can look at some hotel ballrooms for the venue and they shouldn't be too expensive. You could also look for a park if you plan on doing it outside. Do you have an estimate for the guest count?

You have a lot of options with a smaller wedding! A private room at a historic hotel or winery, a yacht, museum, etc. We had 15 guests at a resort in Napa, with a Disney pirate themed reception in a wine cave. No dancing or DJ, we had a violinist for our ceremony, accordionist for our cocktail hour and background music for dinner.

We started planning a very intimate wedding pre COVID and had a challenging time finding a venue that would accommodate. At first we found an Airbnb, but cancelled due to changes in plans. Since then we found a new wedding venue that opened that would accommodate just about any wedding of any size. I would say we got lucky! We’re having our reception at a boutique hotel that has different event spaces of different sizes too. I would look at wedding venues as I think since COVID more venues are accommodating smaller weddings.

If I was having a small wedding I would do a destination wedding at a resort. Usually they're cheaper for the same quality as doing one of the same caliber locally.

That is a great idea but we are currently at 30 people. I dont see us inviting many more besides close family.

We definitely considered a destination. We want to but we thought it might be more expensive than a big wedding. We considered Jamaica....

    Thank you! ♥️
Oooh, do you have photos of the boat wedding you’re thinking of? I feel like you can do more with a smaller guest list.

If your looking to save money have a cocktail reception. We got married at a historic mansion and there were 38 guests. The cocktail reception followed immediately after. We had a harp and violin duo play and had hordeoveurs passed, with an active pasta station. Only our kids were in the Wedding party. Lawn games were placed outside, giant checkers and bocce ball. It was a small elegant affair with no signage or anything extra. Just a small vase of flowers on each cocktail table. Have fun planning!

Definitely look into it. I've watched a lot of Youtube videos of people saying it ended up being cheaper than they expected.

Would you consider Las Vegas as a destination wedding? They do every-size wedding and offer spaces from private ceremony suites, poolside, or in-house chapel/ banquet rooms. I looked into the Cosmopolitan and Aria myself because I like their style and service and they had full flower/ photography packages. I also wanted to centralize my people in a good hotel. Alas, my husband wanted a bigger wedding so we stayed in NY. They say no matter what size your wedding, there will still be planning stress. All will be ok though. Have fun with it.

I havent considered Las Vegas. I guess I fell into stereotyping them for quick on the fly type weddings. I will look into it. Thanks for the advice.
