Small wedding reception tips?

Ashley, on May 17, 2020 at 12:02 AM Posted in Texas Planning 0 4
Hey all!
I’m coming to the realization that my wedding reception isn’t going to be the big party I had always envisioned. Between me and my fiancé we probably have less than 20 people we can 100% expect to attend. I know my wedding will still be amazing, but I’m still adjusting from an idealized idea, to the realistic one.
Is anyone else in the same boat? How are you going to still keep the “party vibe” with a small group of people? Any tips on catering options?

    Hi, and welcome!

Where are you? If we know where you are, we're likely to be able to help you a lot more.

Also, why are you so sure it'll be so small? Your date appears to be more than 2 years off, so many things can change by then.

Also, small doesn't mean not fun - it just means adjusting the volume, if you will.

    North Texas!
I only put that date when signing up, we don’t have an official date set due to covid complications. 😔
Should also mention that my fiancé is British, so we are also accounting that some of his extended family and friends will not be able to attend for travel reasons. We have about 50 ish people we would invite, but can only say about 9 from his side, and 10 from mine would 100% be there. And yes! That’s something I’ve realized since accepting it will be small, I have no doubt it’ll be fun and amazing! Just having a hard time visualizing it. ☺️

Ah, international travel can really bring down your numbers.

For something that small, it's best to start looking at restaurants, or smaller halls. I'm going to move you to the Texas planning forum, because you're going to find better local tips there!

Hi Ashley! I agree with Rebecca's advice and would look into restaurants with private dining options!

Also smaller weddings were a rising trend even before the current pandemic! Check out our article here: What is a Micro Wedding and Why Should You Care?
