Small wedding with after party

Halie, on June 12, 2020 at 12:13 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
My fiancé’s idea of a great wedding has started involving the more we research and talk. We are considering two options:

1. About 30 guestsGuest list mostly immediate familyCeremony and dinner at Avant GardenTaco truck dinner (highly recommend)DJ for ceremony, dinner, first danceOpen bar is complimentary After party with wedding party bar crawl style
2. About 75 guestsGuest list is immediate family, extended, friendsTypical wedding celebrationAll above things included. No after party
The reason we are debating one or the other:1. We want our wedding to have an intimate feeing.2. Budget... having more people costs almost double.3. Our immediate family aren’t big drinkers, but our friends know how to get rowdy.4. We would prefer for it to stay adults only.5. Fiancé specifically requested DJ and open bar which both these options cover. He didn’t care if we party at our wedding or after party style.6. We both come from divorced families so wondering if things will be awkward/tensions will be high.7. Love all the details of a wedding.
Please help me!

I would go with option two. because i think that would be better than option 1 where your friends aren't invited but you'd be partying with them after?

You could do a 75 person guest list for a hors d'oeuvres, cake and punch reception instead of the big meal, but then have an after party with your friends...kind of splitting the difference Smiley winking

Sorry I worded it wrong. Our friends would be there regardless. Just adding extended family or not. So, parents, siblings, grandparents, best friends.

Ah ok i see! hmmm for the 75 person one would you still be having the food truck and stuff or were you looking to make that a more formal reception?

We would still have the food truck, open bar, decor etc. It would just cost more because more mouths to feed.

    Added Info!

So I did some more research on the venue. The package we are wanting is all inclusive up to 50 people. Our immediate family, grandparents and best friends take up about half of that.
For the other half...1. Should I invite all friends?2. Pick and choose which extended family? ( We both have A LOT of aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.)3. Just pay more to have everyone there?4. Allow my parents to add a few guests?
