Small wedding worry

Fanta, on February 14, 2022 at 11:08 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
Anyone out there having a small wedding? We aiming for 70- 75ish people. While I’m happy with they amount of people, I’m worried it won’t be enough people to keep the vibe up/dance floor going? Am I worrying too much? Anyone experienced this?

    We only had 50 people and the dance floor was never empty. It’s not about the number of people, but whether or not the people coming enjoy a party and dancing. Don’t worry about it.

    If you'll be having a DJ, I think just making sure they're a good one will help keep the vibe up! Look for ones that provide videos of themselves at receptions so you can get an idea of their manner with crowds.
    Also, I had a friend with a small wedding that didn't have a DJ, but did her own music playlist to save money and it still turned out well! If you are going that route, I'd suggest Googling wedding reception playlists for suggestions on the best crowd-pleasing songs that will keep the energy going.

    Totally agree! You could have 200 people attend and if none of them like to party then there’s no point. As long as your guests enjoy music and dancing then you have nothing to worry about. A good DJ does wonders for this. Plus, I find people feed off of the couples energy. Happy, lively couple = happy, lively reception. I’m having a 50 person wedding and know it’s going to be a great time. Don’t worry!

    We had around 80-85 and a great DJ, and our wedding was so fun that we actually extended time the night of. (Became a 5.5 hour cocktail+reception celebration instead of 5 hr). The dance floor was never empty and the vibe was great. I had the same concerns you expressed and like others said, it totally just depends on your guests and your DJ! Our guests came ready to party!

    The people make or break the party, not the size of the guest list. Are your guests the type to gravitate to the dance floor or sit and mingle?

    I'm worried about this too! I think my worry stems more from the fact that our guest list is mostly adults in their 50s/60s, and I'm pretty sure most of them won't be seen on the dance floor ...

    I'm also thinking I'll leave most of the music decisions up to my fiancé, because that's an area I know he'll be most passionate about, so then everything around music will be out of my hand and I just won't stress about it. Smiley laugh

    @Katiekies

    We are inviting mostly adults around that age as well and I'm worried about the dance floor / vibes. Congrats on your wedding, I know it's been a year now but how did it go? Any advice?
