Smoker Brides? Come here please!

Jen P., on July 12, 2011 at 2:04 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 72

If you want to quit smoking or just want some inspiration to quit (I say that because although I wasn't ready, it always made me feel better to know when someone else had done it and survived lol), let me know! I'd love to form a kind of support group. Whether you're quitting to save money for your wedding or just because it's the right time, whatever the reason!

I am 3 days without smoking today and trust me, I feel like running around a screaming!!!! Anyone else been here before? This will be my second time (and hopefully last) quitting! I'm only scared of getting super fat now because I find myself wanting to munch on things more frequently lol...

Anyone else?

Just keep thinking of how BIG your savings account is going to get now that you are not spending that money on cigarettes.

chew on a straw? gum? Go for a walk?

I found that when I quit, blowpops and suckers really helped so I didn't munch on other stuff.

Count me in!! I quit and then I quit quitting and then I quit... it's a vicious cycle! Nicorette helped with the cravings, but it gave me crazy dreams so I stopped taking it and then started smoking again shortly after... But I'm down to my last 3 cigs right now and cannot buy another pack once they're gone!

I quit January 1st of this year. I was good (well, struggling but smoke free) for about 2 months. Since then I have had about 3 packs here and there, mostly when I drink. I am happy with that. FH wants me to never smoke again, but I don't see that as realistic because I like to smoke when I drink. But again, 3 packs in 4 1/2 months- not so bad.

Lol "I quit being a quitter"
well I quit being a quitter that quits quitting!!
Hayley, will you be my sponsor? lol

@Hayley C.- that is def what I'm thinking about! FH and I agreed to put what money we would be paying for ciggs (he's quitting too) into our savings account each day that we haven't bought a pack! (I was a pack a day person.. going cold turkey now!)

Props to you tho, I seriously wish I could... That's why I said I won't quit until it's baby time. I don't have the self control for that right now.

EFF YOU BISHES! I'm on Day 6 and so far, I haven't killed anybody. I might if people keep telling me "Just smoke already." My nails look like crap, I keep getting headaches and I hate DH for smoking around me but damnit! I have to quit!

Dirty Purdy, have you started yet??

If you haven't, start by making a list of reasons you SHOULD quit! (IE: whiter teeth, more money in the bank, smell better, etc) and post it in places like your desk at work, bathroom mirror, etc. It really helped get me pumped and ready.

Also, keep repeating "I will not die without a ciggarrette" and keep remembering that on the contrary, you're adding on days to your life!

I wish logical reasons like saving money and living longer would work for me right now! I'm seriously so stressed out and I just feel like this is the best stress relief, which I know is ridiculous. Anyone in CO? Let's start a jogging group, then we'll be forced to stop entirely so we don't die while jogging Smiley smile

I quit when I was pregnant but after I gave birth I turned into the exorcist until someone bought me a pack of cigarettes. I'm doing a lot better now - only have about 2-3 a day and I know that with the wedding coming up next month I won't be able to quit before it but I will when it (and all the stress) is over.

Ugh!! I need to quit so bad. FH HATES that I smoke but, I am a complete bish when I dont have a cigarette. The longest I have gone is a week and he actually bought me a pack because he said I needed it.

I don't smoke nearly as much as my FH does and I would like to quite, its hard for me not to smoke when I have a few cocktails especially and bc my FH smokes and doesn't want to quit! I keep telling myself I'll stop when I am prego but I should stop now! I am pretty good at hiding it from everyone lol but I know its a terrible habit to have!

As much as I want to quite..i have soo many smokers around me that it almost seems impossible. Being preggers is the only thing that seems to give me the strength to quite, and that aint happenin ANY time soon.

Emily- If we set a date i'll try and do it with you. I'll walk over to your desk and leave you random "i'm watching you" notes all over your screen. hehehe

FYI, my FH can't go cold turkey, so he's doing the E-cigg and a friend of his quit that way as well.. It's about $60 for the starting package, but then the refill supply is waaaaaaaaaaaaay cheap and I even take a drag of it once in a while (I don't really feel that it does anything for me though) when I feel desperate.. but so far so good!

I quit cold turkey back in August 2007 and never smoke a cigarette again since then, I use to smoke a pack a day and when I'm really stressed out I could go up to 3 packs in a day.

It was the day before I got baptized, I sat at the park smoking my last one, threw my lighter out, and ask GOD for the strenght to help me out and also FH thought it was the most discusting thing (I agree now it was), if he's kissing me and smell it (usually on my nails, no matter what I do the smell just stays there sometimes), he'd stop kissing me. I know I had to do it. It was the best thing I did, I started a piggy bank the remainder of 2007 where I put all the money I would've used to buy cigarettes, and I ended with an extra $350 at the end. Could've been way more if I remembered to put the money in everytime I felt like smoking.

Good luck to you all ladies, hope you can find the strenght to do it, I know it's hard but you won't regret it.

Lol @ Nicole.. that is a funny picture.. my dad doesn't know I smoke again and I'd hate to explain the drama that led up to me smoking after almost a year of being quit.. if I couldn't smoke on my wedding day being as addicted as I currently am, I'd die and probably wouldn't enjoy my day! The first week is the hardest anyway.. I know on my day I won't even care now.. I hope
