Smoky Mountain TN Weddings: When, Where, Why?

Anne, on October 23, 2016 at 7:54 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

I'm getting married in Pigeon Forge. We chose this location because we got engaged there and FH went to UT and some of his family lives close by. His parents best friends live in Gatlinburg .

Who else is getting married in the Smoky Mountains of TN?

Tell me about it. I'm still looking for a photographer and a cake.

    I got married in the Elkmont area of the GSMNP in Spence Cabin & my reception was in the Appalachian Clubhouse. $600 total for the rental- tables & chairs included but everything else you have to bring. JoPhotos is great & one of the very few with a license to photograph in the park. (I didn't use them but their great. I used Abigail Malone Pgotgraphy (kind of expensive though). I'd also highly recommend Don Anderson if you need a minister & Haven Media if you need videography. Here is the. Link to my video so you can get an idea for the feel of the place.

    I'm getting married at Colonial Estates. It's in Maryville. It has really pretty mountain views without actually being in Gatlinburg or pigeon forge. I included a sample picture from their website. They have a great team, and are very reasonably priced.

    Also. My photographer is great. Look her up!! Melinda Sheree Photography!

    If you are intrested in a package wedding. I am getting married in Gatlinburg at chapel at the park. Very reasonable and I have had great customer service so far...

    I had the "ultimate wedding package" everything included and I got a good deal because I was pretty set on a weekday wedding

    Good luck Smiley smile

    Here is a link if this is something you are intrested in... http://www.chapelatthepark.com/mb/

    We got married just outside of Asheville. We looked at Appalachian Clubhouse, but the drive was a bit too far at night for our guests.

    Carrie Turner Photography is AMAZING. An absolute dream to work with. She is based in Asheville. I'm attaching one of our portraits that she took.

    We are getting married here. There is a living room with a fireplace. We are not expecting more than 40 peeps so there is plenty of room for dining and dancing afterward. We are having Tony Gore's cater with a BBQ buffet. I want a photographer and videographer so the suggestions are super helpful. Where are you getting or did you get your cakes?

    Can't wait!!

    Thank you! As for photographers, I have been consulting long distance with wedding bug. Contact info below and Above the Mist for photography. I'll look into the suggestion for the bakery.

    Thanks again and good luck since your day comes before mine. Happy planning.

    Thanks, much appreciated! I just looked into your catering service as well and I didn't see that they catered... would I need to call to find out about that? I'm also trying to do a BBQ buffet. It's been stressful trying to plan everything by myself since I have no family or friends here:/

    @ FutureMrs.Kort--

    Yes, best to call Tony Gore's and talk to them about catering. Their website leaves a lot to be desired. We ate there for lunch while we were in Pigeon Forge on vacation this summer and fell in love with their food. When we decided to get married there, I wanted no other. They will do just food or they will do food and food service. I'm opting for just food because it's a small wedding.

    So glad we can help each other out!! I'm 8 hours away and I am planning this whole thing long distance too. I have no friends or family to rely on close by either.

    Same here! My wedding will consist of about 30 people so it's small too. I will definitely give them a call tomorrow. Is it priced reasonably? Also what are you doing for a menu? I was thinking pulled pork/pulled chicken with some sides.

    I second JOPHOTO or Erin Morrison Photography. They both have their license to shoot in the Smokies. Erin was my photographer and she is absolutely amazing like best money we spent hands down. Art of Cakes in Maryville is the best, but not sure what the delivery fee would be for Sevierville area. If you want BBQ go with Dead End BBQ.

    @KBB

    Never tried that BBQ place. The other option I was considering is Bennett's BBQ.

    I spoke to Art of Cakes and they charge $100 to deliver the cake.

    I'll look into JOPHOTO. Never heard of them.

    @FutureMRS.Kort. I'm doing pulled pork and pulled chicken, Mac and cheese, slaw, baked and green beans, cornbread, and maybe a few other sides. I found them to be more reasonable than most. Plus I like the simplicity of the choices.

    Yeah I was considering Bennetts BBQ as well. I'm a very simple person myself. I will also try JOPHOTO. Dead end BBQ seems like a pretty decent place but it's a hour and half from my venue:/

    JOPHOTO does amazing work, but they are pretty pricey. Erin did a great job if you want to check her out! I've heard of Bennetts but never ate there. Dead End catered my wedding and they did a great job but an hour and a half away would be a pretty pricey delivery fee. Not sure if you have a venue, but I also second Spence Cabin it's gorgeous and perfect for a smaller wedding.

    @LilBit

    I love Nashville. FH's sister loves there. It's just too far away from the rest of friends/family. Good luck with the planning! Connecting with others close by is a great benefit of WW.

    Bennetts BBQ and Dead End were both terrible in the past experience I've had with them. We considered Dead End for catering but when we went there to eat before signing contract, I absolutely hated it. And I don't usually have a problem eating any kind of BBQ. We just got married in Pigeon Forge this past weekend at Starkeytown Cove. Our venue was really pretty but I did a lot of my own decorating. It's all outside minus the bathrooms and bridal suite. The River Place is a gorgeous place in Sevierville (10 minutes away) and from what I hear it is also affordable. Our photographer takes awesome photos but her communication sucked so she had me worried about whether or not she would show up two weekend before the weddings. She did. But it was still nerve wracking. Sweet P's BBQ did our food and it was amazing. All of our guests raved about it and they have a pulled pork and chicken nacho bar option that we did for cocktail hour. And it was still affordable. Around 20 pp with nachos for apps and 3 meats and 3 sides for dinner.
