Spent all day yesterday painting wine bottles. We used Krylon metallic gold and matte champagne. Just some tips if you are soaking bottles and then spray painting.

I put all my wine bottles in a laundry baskets. Filled up the bath tub with super hot water, scoops of Oxy Clean, and dish soap. Soak them for hours. Use a Brillo that has the steel tips. Then soak again to get the leftover residue.

The metallic gold sprayed so easily. The champagne was more difficult and took more cans to cover. Buy a handle to attach to your spray cans (only like $3) saved our fingers. Here's the before and after.

    Wow! Great job! I did our bottles with frosted glass spray paint since I'm using a glow paint on the grass inside to show through.

    @Kristy, I now have this incredible urge to go out and buy some dry erase spray and literally spray everything! :-) I will definitely have to try this out. If I don't get any work done this next week, we will all know why!

    @OP the bottles look great!

    Thanks!! It's definitely intimidating to give this stuff a try. Our wedding is at a winery so it's going to be perfect!

    We're using sprayed wine bottles as centerpieces as well! I loved the idea when I saw it on Pinterest. I started collecting early on and have painted most of them. My problem is they get chipped when they rub. Thanks for the paper towel idea. I'll be using baby's breath and candles in them in groups of 4/5. I'm also gonna add votives and sprayed beer bottles with the table names on them. I'm gonna do a mock up next week so maybe I post a pic.

    @MrsJohnson Definitely post a pic! The paper towels are definitely preventing chips, just make sure the bottles are super dry. We did have some of the chalkboard bottles that ended up getting pieces of paper towel stuck on them. It wasn't a big deal - comes right off with water. I think shrink wrap would work really well too.

    They look great! I LOVE the champagne color! We're hoping to do something similar but with growlers.
