So unhappy with second hair and makeup trial. Feedback?

Bride2Be2018, on December 17, 2017 at 7:11 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 29

I was happy with my first hair and makeup trial, but decided I want more on my eyes but loved everything else. I also decided to do something different with my hair this time. So, I said I wanted everything the same except to play up my eyes and gave an example photo for the hair and makeup(separate inspo pics). I think she did what I asked for the eyes but it's just not flattering on me?? I also feel like my hair is already falling out an hour later and just don't think it looks good. What do I do? I can't afford a third trial.

ETA: I think I may just stick with the first makeup trial look. She really didn't get my hair right at all for the second hair trial(my hair fell out after an hour and my hair holds a curl really well), is it fair/appropriate of me to ask for another hair trial for her to correct at no cost?

Do you have a picture with your eyes closed. ETA: I like the first trial makeup better

I personally like the makeup from the first trial better. I think she did more a smudged liner, and it should be more defined based on the pic you provided, but I can't tell what the bottom lid looks like in the inspiration. I don't think the hair looks bad, but I would request more curl and have her do something to make it hold. Can she charge you for a THIRD trial if you were not satisfied? Is all of this the same person? Maybe find someone else. You are absolutely gorgeous, ps, and no matter what, you will be a stunning bride.

I agree your first trial is much more flattering. Your eyes seem to pop more in the first as well. Did your hair hold well in the first trial? I can't tell if it was as curly.

Your first trial is better but honestly it looks like they're caking a lot of make up on when you don't need it. Neither picture looks like your inspo so I'd be pretty mad and demand a retrial. You're beautiful and the make up is not doing you justice.

Yeah @Daniella my hair did hold better in the first trial. But I don't want side swept because I decided on a veil and I think the combo looks weird. I really don't think she did what I asked for the hair trial. I may just go with the first makeup trial and ask her to redo my hair at no charge?? I know that sounds horrible but I've spent so much money on trials. To be fair she did exactly what I wanted for the first trial, but I chose to change my hair and makeup again...I'm just not happy with the results.

@Alforev to give her credit this was actually my inspo pic for my first trial. I loved it so much I booked her for my wedding. Then with wanting a change I figured it would go the same way with this second trial, which it did not. I'm nervous about my hair now, I don't have faith in her at all that she can get my hair right now. I feel like it's going to be meh and fall out. I'll be ok settling with the first makeup look, because I hate the second one so much.

I like the first trial. The eye makeup of he second one makes you look a bit tired.

Does your hair generally hold a curl well? The downside to having a down style is that it's highly dependent on your hair texture and the weather.

@Kat yeah my hair holds a curl REALLY well which is what's weird. I have thick, coarse curly hair so there's no need for it to be falling out an hour later.

ETA: She put curlers in when she did my makeup and then when she took them out my hair didn't look like the inspo pic at all. So then she tried to re-do the waves and it sort of worked but she only did it to a part of my hair. I feel like I may stick with the first makeup trial look but feel totally unsettled about the hair situation.

You are beautiful first off! And I am going for the same exact hair style, the romantic Hollywood waves with a side sweep. This seems not easy to achieve for some hairstylists, you really have to find the best in your area to do it. It should have held better. It will take a lot of hairspray but I have found in my experience with hair rolls versus heated curlers the curlers woe better. And I have fine hair. You're going to need extreme hair spray RIGHT when the curl is placed. I would YouTube some videos, I am almost skeptical and might even do my own hair because I know how it holds. Also with extensions they can be thicker so you will have to play with them ahead of time.

@cbrybs thanksSmiley winking I though it would be easier because it's less time consuming then intricate updos...but apparently not!? Ugh I don't want to have to do my own hair:/ I think I'm going to ask her to do my hair again and if it doesn't go right then I'm going to see if my regular hairstylist will just do it for me. She doesn't do weddings normally but I know she would help me out if I needed and she lives in the same city as where my wedding is.

I like the first trial and it looks like you do too. Just stick with what you know works. If she does the third trial, she'll have to charge you for it.

Yeah for the makeup for the first trial I like it. But not the hair...it doesn't work with the veil I chose. So...I'm left with needing her to correct the second hair trial or have somebody else do my hair I *****.***@******...** you really think if you don't properly do a hair and makeup trial you should charge to do it correctly a third time? I've spent $165 each trial already. The first trial she did what I showed her but the second was a complete bomb. Why should I be the one to pay again for her mistake.

I like the first trial better it's very pretty, classy, and just flattering all together. The second trial is beautiful also (makeup wise) I think you're right about the hair in second trial though it fell out way too much. I think the way you're smiling in the first trial pic says it all!

Yeah, I'd be freaking pissed about your hair in your second trial. That looks absolutely nothing like your inspiration photo, and your hair shouldn't be falling out in an hour.

Is there any way you can get out of this girl doing your hair and find someone else? You shouldn't be paying her up the ying yang to have no faith her ability.

And definitely ask her if she can redo your hair for a third trial and explain why. The company I'm going with has a clause built in that says if you're completely unsatisfied with your trial they'll do it again for free.

@FutureMrs I think that's what I'm going to have to do...just have somebody else do my hair if she can't get it right. I'm not really sure about whether I can get out of it or not for my hair but at this point I'd rather just eat the $ for the hair and have it done right. ETA: I'll tell her how unhappy I was with the results and if she's offers to do another hair trial for me great, if not I'll ask my hairdresser.
