Social Media and Vendors

Erin, on July 12, 2019 at 5:55 PM Posted in Married Life 0 17

I was wondering how important is it to you that your vendors acknowledge your special on their various accounts. I know, I know, it's a dumb thing to inquire/worry about but I think it's crossed all of our minds just once. Do you hope that your wedding gets a shoutout on your photographer/videographer/wedding planner/venue's page or am I alone in this? Lol.

Two of my friends used the photographer I am planning on using and both of my friends photos were used and won in a photography competition. 😐
So uh yeah... I am hoping for a post! 😂
I know the odds of it happening a third time are so low but I mean... One can hope your photos are award winning too

I’m with you on this. I wonder sometimes what causes them to decide who they post and who they do not. What makes one wedding better than another lol. Maybe they like the people they associate with more?

It's not important at all. The marriage is important, not superficial things like this.

Exactly this. It’s almost like HS all over again and wondering if you’ll get picked at all to be on someone’s team lol.

Meh. My coordinator is very active on social media, and I imagine we'll get a post there. My photographer is practically nonexistent on social media, but what matters is that she does absolutely beautiful work and is super quick to respond whenever I have questions. It would be kind of neat to be "featured," but I'd take a high quality vendor with inactive social media over a mediocre one with super active social media any day.

I've never even thought to look my vendors up on social media lol. Then again, the only one I have is Facebook.

I asked my vendors not to share anything to social media. I'd prefer the day be private for our friends and family.

As long as they dont post before me, or name me if they do, I'm find with it. My realtor posted our home purchase before I did, but didnt tag us or use names. I was ok with it and gave her the ok when she did.

This... it’s like if it posts cool but it wasn’t a consideration choosing vendors or post wedding. This social media environment marks everything that’s wrong with weddings to me.

I'll admit, I've been watching to see if our vendors share our wedding. It's not a huge deal if they don't - my husband and I love how everything turned out, and that's the important part. However, I understand why a lot of us think about it at some point. I mean, how did we search out and choose our vendors in the first place? We read reviews, we looked at examples of their best work, and we compared them to pick our favorites. We've all invested so much time and care into planning these weddings; I think it's a pretty natural reaction to hope that the people we chose so carefully to bring them to life would want to show them as another example of their best work, something truly unique, or that you and your spouse were clients they really enjoyed working with. Our days were special to all of us - it feels good to know that the experts think they were special too!

I never really wondered about this but I noticed my DJ definitely posted stuff about my wedding and it was nice to be able to share that with my guests
