Social Media Engagement Announcement

After we spoke with all of our family and close friends, we quietly changed our FB relationship status to "engaged." Because of how FB does the "life events" now, we chose to upload a picture of us from after the proposal (same as my WW avatar). I say we did this quietly, but we were approaching 200 likes of our relationship status change within a day. It didn't take much to get the word out on FB! Edit: we did the FB thing a little over 24 hours after the proposal.

The only announcement was changing my fb status. No big deal.

I would just change your status then. Unfortunately a friend posted on my wall congratulating us before I could notify close family and friends, so we were ratted out lol. But just changing your status should be fine.

I called family and a few close friends when I got engaged (a Thursday night), but told them in advance that we weren't posting anything on social media until that Saturday because i needed to get my ring fitted! Then, on Saturday I posted to Instagram and Facebook (with the pic in my avatar here!)

My best friend and FH sister made more of a post about our engagement than we did. We just changed our status and posted a picture that was taken when he was proposing. No close up of the ring or anything just me crying and him on his knee.

After we told everyone we're close to (family & friends) we waited about a week or 2 and I think I actually just posted the picture that we took right after he proposed with a sweet one line sentence about how "April 28th, was the happiest day of my life... so far" and left it at that, all of our close friends & family who knew were like THANK GOD we can say something now! We probably changed our FB relationship status later that day

I'm gonna say maybe 15 mins after I uploaded the video my mom took of the proposal, about 10 pictures of it and changed the life event. I was so fucking excited lol. I needed to share it with the world!! My closest family members were there and my whole family knew that it was happening. So I didn't have to wait to tell people. I texted my closest friends directly after.

Most of my immediate family knew before it even happened, and so did FHs. Our close friends we called. And I didn't even make the official "announcement" on fb because our friend posted something before either of us did. I just made sure the most important people heard it from us. No big deal.

We just quietly changed our statuses and profile pics. What we didn't want was a ton of people wanting to come to the wedding, knowing that we couldn't host everyone.

My proposal and pictures were posted all over Facebook before I could even say anything. But in my friend's defense, this all happened at a big Halloween party, and everyone knew about the proposal but me.

The next day after we had called and spoken to our families and closest friends we uploaded a new picture and changed our relationship status

After telling our families (either they were there when it happened or via phone) I posted a picture of my ring on my hand with "Yesssssss!!!!! more pictures later" because it was super early in the morning, later that day I posted a selfie with my ring and a picture of FH & I from that day (Christmas). My friend has a big social media following and she posted a picture that was taken right after she said yes with her now husband picking her up, later she posted a video about the proposal. It doesn't have to be just one announcement you can use different mediums and platforms. I promise the feeling doesn't wear off for a while. I was on the engagement high for about 2 months. LOL

Both sets of parents were there, but I called my best friend and both of my sisters to tell them then posted pictures videos etc on FB and changed our status
