SOLA FLOWER EMERGENCY - Any tips or advice please!

Lauren, on January 13, 2016 at 10:38 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 10

So I spent around $400 on 10 sola flower bouquets from a vendor. They turned out beautiful except for one major issue. I accidentally ordered them in ivory instead of white and they cannot be returned. My wedding is next month and the ivory will clash majorly with my white dress and all the white accents of my bridesmaids. Does anyone have any tips or advice on dying a whole sola flower bouquet WHITE. I have seen many posts about dying them different colors, but not sure if it would work the same way dying ivory to white. Please help!

I should also note the bouquets are already put together and cannot be taken apart to dye them so I'm wondering if a painting technique would work?

My only guess would be to paint them individually with watered down paint. Could you post a pic?

Can you email the vendor and ask if they can advise?

    Ask the vendor first.

If that doesn't get you anywhere- order a batch of like a dozen or so spare sola flowers and start experimenting with bleach and colors and see if you can come up with an adequate solution testing it out on the spare flowers first- then plow head first into fixing yours.

Have you tried wearing your dress and holding yours, people use white natural flowers all the time with a white dress, and natural flowers are always a cream color, and they don't clash. This may not be as big of a disaster as you think. Smiley smile

I'm going to try holding with my dress this weekend and keep my fingers crossed that I'm just freaking out for nothing! If it looks bad then experimenting on some extra flowers is a good idea. I'll try that first. Thanks!

In order to dye the flowers, you'd have to take the bouquets apart. Have you considered spray painting them?

I asked my florist this same question because my dress is ivory and I was afraid white flowers wouldnt work. he showed me lots of pics of ivory dresses with white flowers and it really looks good. Now if you were talking about a veil or something that might be different but the difference in flowers adds a pop.

The ivory ones might even look more realistic than the bright white ones. I like the spray paint idea, you could aways use a mist of shimmery spray paint just to lighten them up a bit.
