SOLA FLOWERS! Too Good To Be True??? **Update****

Be You Tifful, on April 16, 2014 at 10:16 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 23

Hi Ladies!

So I’m currently looking into these Sola Flowers. I've found a bunch of great deals on them in bulk. I have never worked with them before, but it "doesn't seem" to difficult to arrange. Has anyone use these before? Are you able to dye them? They are made of a soft wood, so they seems durable. Is this a good alternative to silk flowers? Please share your input and photos if you have any.

I'm working with them right now. Unless you buy them wired you have to do that yourself and it is pretty time consuming. I decided not to dye mine, however a quick Google search will lead you in the right direction. It seems like a lot of people use RIT dyes. They shed a bit while attaching the wires . There are a few brides on here that have used them too

I did! They were a pain in the side to deal with, but turned out nicely. I made wire stems and glued them to every flower.

Cost wise, it was about $30 per bouquet for sola flowers and wire (mine were quite a bit more once I added the ribbon roses and feathers) were added. The cost was much higher than I anticipated. But I made mine fairly large and used about 40 flowers in each bouquet.

I tried to dye them with food coloring, didn't work, so I added in ribbon roses.

Now, that I posted the pics, forgot I made and added black pearl sprays. Now I remember why those cost so much! If you stick to just the sola flowers, it should be pretty easy. But my girls loved them and most have them displayed in their house somewhere.

I bought sola flower bouquets and they're gorgeous. I purchased them, already made, off of Etsy. Still cheaper than regular flowers.

Here are the sola bouquets I made for my wedding. All flowers are hand died but I did leave some plain as the natural cream color worked perfectly!
