Sola vs. Ling’s Moments

Josina, on March 7, 2022 at 6:59 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 3 7
Hey y’all, starting to look into florals and I’m wondering if anyone has looked at both Sola and Ling’s Moment, and which they liked more? I’m still undecided on real vs. faux for my bridal bouquet but I know I want faux for all the other flowers (decor, boutonnières, bridesmaid bouquets, etc). I don’t particularly care which looks realer, more so which was easier to work with/more cost effective. Sola’s having a huge sale right now so I ordered some dyed flower packs and a raw pack with some dyes to try them out. Ling’s doesn’t seem to go on sale nearly as often but I think I like more of their greenery.
Also, has anyone used both by any chance? Would love to hear about that too.
Thanks in advance!

I am gifting all of the female guest corsages so I purchased 50 bought from Lings and I am absolutely stunned how beautiful and realistic these flowers look. I have not checked out Sola but I hear they are amazing too!

One of my coworkers used Sola (cheaper, very DIY-heavy), but, as we are using a mix of real and artificial flowers for our wedding, we preferred Ling’s (more ready to go options, beautiful quality). We are using their foam/silk flowers for our signage, pew flowers, petals, alter centerpieces, cocktail tables, and head table. We will be using real flowers for the bouquets, corsages, boutonnières, and reception centerpieces.

I never checked out ling's, but I ordered Sola wood flowers for my wedding. They are absolutely beautiful, and great quality. You can have them dyed already and you set up, completely done for you, or chose the option to do it yourself (cheaper). The Sola flowers are almost always on sale.

I will say do faux real feel flowers and it will cut your cost on that. And you can make your own and how you want it. I am doing faux real feel flowers making my own bouquets for my wedding party and groom and groomsmens bountaires. Because that hefty price $$$on real flowers for that 1 day. You can put towards something else that you may want My bridal bouquet was made with satin flower and added jewels for that pop of bling.

Hey there! In about a week I’ll be going to a wedding where the bride has chosen Lings flowers & purchased very beautiful garlands with flowers in them for decor and I saw photos and was on FaceTime with her and the colors are as shown, they looked real & big. Beautiful flowers.. and the BEST part is they are already put together and there’s no work to be put it.

& for my own wedding I am planning.. I am using sola wood flowers! Because it was the cheapest option without impacting the look..
I’ve opted for shades of pinks, burgundy & white. I bought 100 pk assortment of white sola wood flowers and they were BEAUTIFUL. They even have some luxe flowers that just look even more real & delicate. The DOWNSIDE (for some like me lol) is even though I love DIYing & being creative… choosing to dye the flowers myself is a process!!! It takes a lot of time & then you have to wait 1-2 days sometimes for flowers to completely dry before you start Hot gluing floral wire stems into them. There’s a youtube channel called “ohyourelovely” and they teach you everything there is to know about the process. Highly recommend. Including projects you can do with them. They also sell their own sola wood flowers. If you buy the PRE-DYED sola wood flowers that saves time and you wont need to be mixing paints and what not.
For deep colors like the burgundy I have had to try so many colors to get the right color & I have to dye them twice to be a deep color. I plan to use these flowers throughout the entire wedding… centerpieces, garlands, decor, on signage, bouquets, all that..
If you have people to help, and make it a fun project its definitely better on cost to do sola wood flowers. I guess it comes down to how much time you have or want to spend. Here’s the stuff I’ve been working on with sola wood flowers for my wedding! I’m starting waaaay months ahead and I reached out to the company & they said its fine to just store them in containers that are open, not in direct sunlight & avoid moisture, which is why they shouldn't be in closed boxes or anything unless you’ve got holes in them. I know this does not pertain to your question, but I am actually getting started in looking at flowers. How long did shipping take? I’ve given lings a good look, but was concerned about shipping as my wedding is in 9.5 weeks.

This is kind of a play on your question, but what exactly is the difference between the two! They are both beautiful, but in the end are both still faux flowers (sola i know is wood, and ive seen lings flowers in person and those were beautiful). Do they both come with stems/can you arrange your own bouquets?

Just starting the flower planning process and am trying to figure out if fake versus real are the way to go!
