Sola Wood Flower Bouquets! 3 of five done!!!

Jessica, on May 20, 2019 at 5:40 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 3 22
Just wanted to share what I completed this weekend. My sola flower bouquets. I actually only finished my bouquet plus the minis for my 2 Jr bridesmaids. Still have to make 2 more for bridesmaids and also the corsage for FMIL.

I got one of the DIY kits. That's enough to make 4 small bouquets plus my Medium bouquet (which is much bigger than any premade bouquet I've ever seen in the craft stores). I also added on a corsage kit for FMIL and a box of "RiP flowers ". These were 60 miscellaneous flowers that were either perfect or had small imperfections. Out of the 60 there were only 3 I couldn't use, which I cut up and used as sample pieces to get my colors just right. Those were $20. But for everything it totaled $200, including shipping. I also got 2 extra dyes which were $6/bottle I believe. As I nnow know I wouldn't buy the dyes again because its just acrylic paint. I used 50 cent acrylic paints from walmart bc the colors in my kit were just a little bit off.

Cute! They look better than silk flowers. I couldn’t tell that they were wood.

I got the kit off Etsy. Most of the shops for these flowers are pretty pricey but I used the shop Luv2doityourself and She is absolutely amazing! Super fast response time, like instant most days during the day.

She has listings to create your own kit, so you just look through them and pick a type of boquet you like. You can then send her a message with a screen shot telling what kind of items you need (# bouquets, # boutonnieres, etc) and she will send you a quote. She also has floral arrangements like for centerpieces.

My kit included the glue sticks, lace that's on my bouquet, all the flowers, a roll of twine, filler, floral wire stems, floral tape. There was also included printed step by step instructions for each thing to make, like bouquets, corsage, etc. She also has videos for how to on her website.

I'm pretty crafty and love doing projects, up cycles, etc, BUT I have never successfully made an even half way decent floral arrangement... until now. Its not difficult, just time consuming. My bouquet took the longest and I made it before the others, which I wish I'd done mine last now because I feel like I could have made it much prettier. But it's still gorgeous.
I dyed the flowers myself. You can use acrylic paint from Walmart. They are 50 cent each. Or you can also use RIT dye. I liked the more solid color of the acrylic paint better. You mix 1/2 cup water with 1/2 small bottle of paint and you will get a more streaked look. I did this on about half of the light pink flowers. All the other flowers I did 1/2 bottle paint with 1/4 cup water and that's how I achieved the solid bright colors I ended up with.

Here is a few of them up close. I love flowers, but not the price of live ones and most artificial flowers fray and I absolutely cannot stand it when I see any little stray piece of fabric on a flower, so I figured these were my best bet.

I read a post on WW the other night where a few people were saying that these flowers don't look real, and i noticed on Etsy some of the shops flowers indeed do not.

But i was super impressed with the shop i used and their quality. These flowers are fantastic. Plus, my bridesmaids are all excited that they get to keep their bouquets.

Thank you so much. I was pretty nervous because it was my 1st floral arrangement, and 1st time using sola wood.

Wow! I don't even like pink but those are super gorgeous! If I chose to use fake flowers definitely the wood ones are the best looking imo! Great job!

Thank you. I didn't think I was a fan of pink either until I started wedding planning.... turns out apparently I like it more than I realized!
