Soldering. (or some may say sawdering, saudering, sottering, soddering... the list goes on)

Miss P., on August 7, 2014 at 10:41 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 6

It's a funny term, but it's the method that is uses a piece of metal (like tin or aluminum) to melt two pieces of metal together.

I love how many ways I've seen all of us (myself included at one time) have called it something other than *solder*. I had a very "oh! duh!" moment months ago when I realized I was spelling it wrong for quite some time. haha. Whoops!

How have you always spelled it/thought it was spelled?

Souldering. Holy cow. I knew I had butchered it, but I was too lazy to look up the real spelling.

Omg, Jenn I just realize it's officiate? or can it be both? I'm still confused about that one. lol. Is it sad that I still sound out bachelorette? I just say bach to save face ha.

@ashleigh, hahaha! That one is a good one! I had always spelled it saudering.

Confession: I always write def instead of the full word. It is just that one word I can never spell and I butcher it so bad even spell check doesn't know what I am trying to say.

Miss P: it is confusing! Officiant is a noun, taking the place of a name. Officiate is a verb, which is the action of officiating. (Mr. Smith is our officiant and he will officiate our ceremony. When he is done officiating, we will be officially married.) And for bachelorette, my computer still doesn't recognize it--I just write bachelor and add 'ette' and assume that's right Smiley laugh

FMM: I have words like that, too! For that definitely, would it help to piece it up, like learning how to spell Wednesday-- Wed-nes-day, so def-in-it-ely? For me, it would be helpful to realize it's def, then two little words, then an ending. Anyway, 'renaissance' was the death of me in college; I'm so thankful for spell check!! Smiley smile
