Jess, on May 10, 2019 at 10:41 AM Posted in Planning 0 70
Hello everyone,

everyone has heard of the saying “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue”. I was just Wondering what I could I use as my “something blue”. I think I have everything else except that. So any advice or ideas would be much appreciated!

I am planning on wearing glittery sneakers (I think) during the reception (possibly the ceremony too) and am thinking about blue satin shoelaces. I've seen some do totally blue shoes or blue ribbon to tie the bouquet with Smiley smile

Most people I've seen get their last name embroidered on their garter in blue 🤷‍♀️ I however will be wearing a sapphire ring my late grandfather gave me for my 16th birthday

My bouquet has something blue and I plan to paint my toes blue to match.

    Jewelry

    Garter

    Shoes

    Nail polish

    Hair accessory

Bouquet - even if it's adding in a charm

The saying also mentions a sixpence in her shoe, but that part is commonly left out. I’m thinking of doing blue soles on my shoes.

We used this sweet little box as our "something blue." It was gifted to me by my MIL, and originally belonged to her mother. We surprised her by including it in the ceremony (she didn't know until the BM pulled it out of his pocket for the exchanging of rings), as that wasn't her intention, but it meant a lot to her to have it included.

I have some blue flowers in my bouquet. I did not do this on purpose though lol. My MOH also got me a bracelet for my something blue. Smiley smile

I'm considering wearing blue French horn earrings. I'm a big HIMYM fan.

Also considering Groot earrings tho too...

One of our specialty cocktails is blueberry mojito and most of the Jewish ceremony items are blue.

Your shoes could be blue, blue hair piece, one of FH's friends got married a couple years ago and her dad hand sewed a blue heart into the lining of her dress which was really unique!

I told my dad it would mean a lot to me if he surprised me with my something blue so we'll see what he comes up with Smiley smile

I mean something as small as a hairpin, a charm on your bracelet, your garter, if it’s not one of your colors I would keep it small. Even one blue flower in your bouquet.
Me personally, I’m just not following that tradition, I don’t see the point.
