Old: My mom's veil (mine now)

    New: Dress, jewelry, etc.

Borrowed: I borrowed a butterfly pin from my mom - remember you're (traditionally) supposed to borrow something from someone with a long, happy marriage

    Blue: Thong

Or get something borrowed from your married friends, if you have any. One of my closest friends who has been married for 12 years sent me her wedding jewelry and told me she’d be honored if I wore it if I wore it as my something borrowed ... I was so surprised and I did. Her wedding jewelry was my something borrowed.

Old: brooch my great grandmother gave me when I was like 6 or 7. I put it on my bouquet.
    New: dress, shoes, ring.
Borrowed: my mom let me borrow my other great grandmothers diamond earrings. Blue: blue was one of our colors so 🤷‍♀️ I made that count, lol.

Well, but it doesn't have to be from your mom - your MIL, an aunt or one of his aunts (if either of you have aunts). Something old can be something that you already owned or that someone gave to you that was a grandparents or something like that. Something borrowed just needs to be from someone happily married for a long time (traditionally). Be creative Smiley smile .

You would also traditionally put a penny in your shoe - I have one from 2017 (because that's when I got married - there was someone on here at that time who would mail you a "year penny" but I think she's gone now) that I had in my shoe.

Old: A necklace that has been passed down about 5 generations on my mom's side of the family.

    New: Dress, probably.

Borrowed: Not sure as of yet (and the wedding is 5 days away... oi!), but pretty much all of my bridesmaids have offered to let me borrow something.

Blue: A blue napkin from a wedding FH and I went to in Feb 2020. Our pastor (who is also our officiant) wrote a cute little "check yes or no" note on it for me as if it were written by FH while I was away from the table. The napkin was never used and I saved it because it was fun. So now it's the perfect "something blue" for me!
