Something Old, Something New...💙

SLY, on February 1, 2021 at 2:54 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 20

Hello Everyone! Can you believe it's already February?! 😱🥰

The month of love has me thinking about - you guessed it - weddings! Let's talk about the saying, "Something old, something new. Something borrowed, and something blue."

Are you including this saying in your wedding? If so, let's see those details!

I did these! I did something blue as my garter. Something new was my dress, something borrowed was a bracelet and something old was supposed to be another piece of jewelry but I forgot it so my undies were the something old 🤣🤣🤣

My "something blue" is our main wedding color (cerulean blue)! "Something old" - not sure yet, maybe my shoes? "Something new" - my dress! "Something borrowed" - I couldn't think of anything, so I might end up skipping this one, not sure!! Any ideas?

That cerulean blue is such a pretty shade!!

Hmmm, do you have any women in your family that have a piece of jewelry you could wear as your 'borrowed'? Oooo if someone has an old piece of ribbon that would look pretty with your bouquet, you could use it to tie around the stems of your bouquet??

I had thought about the jewelry, but there isn't anyone I can really borrow anything from. I LOVE the ribbon idea though!! Thank you for the suggestion!

You're welcome!! I think the ribbon will look sweet, and even more sentimental since you'll be holding that element in your hands. 🥰

    I haven't 100% decided, but I have some ideas!

I really love the idea of having powder blue shoes buuuut, not sure how much I'll wear them after lol. So my shoes might turn into my 'new', and I'll add some blue into my jewelry!

My engagement ring is my old because it was custom made ('new' design) from my mom and FMIL's wedding rings! My borrowed is most likely going to be the wedding veil and cord my aunt used in her wedding. I'm half Filipino, and those two are part of a traditional Filipino wedding ceremony!

I am definitely doing it for my wedding. I have my dress as something new, my bridesmaid is borrowing me her pearl jewelry which is also very old because it has been passed down in her family so there's my something borrowed and something old. And I'm doing my nails natural looking with a blue gem something like this.

Thank you. My sister in law makes glue on nails and was asking me what I want for the wedding. I was searching and came across this picture and I sent it to her and was like omg this can be my something blue.

My something old is the pearl jewelry my late grandmother gave me when I was little, my something new is my dress, my something borrowed I’m still figuring out 😅, and the something blue are my shoes (which technically have many colors, but I’m gonna make it work, haha)!

Funny enough, I also have a sixpence to put in my shoe! The owner of the bridal salon I bought my dress at gives them to all of her brides.

My "something old" was my grandmother's veil that I wore, my "something new" was my jewelry that was custom and gifted to me from my mom, my "something borrowed" ended up being my flowers/bouquets which I ordered from the company Something Borrowed Blooms (a floral rental company), totally recommend them! And my "something blue" were my bridesmaids because they all wore steel blue dresses (one of our wedding colors). 😊

Those are awesome elements! That’s so fun that the bridal salon does that for their brides! I’ve never heard of that, but it’s super sweet!

Love how you wore her old veil! That’s also clever that your ‘something borrowed’ was the flowers you rented!

I’m not settled yet but my ideas so far are:

-Something old: Working on this, not sure if my grandmother has any jewelry or item I can borrow

-Something new: Dress (of course) or new perfume, but also had a bouquet charm made with my late grandfather’s “Love You - Grandpa” engraved on it

-Something borrowed: Will be using one of my dad’s ties to wrap the bouquet, just have to go through them for my color scheme; planning to double down on this and possibly borrow the vows at FH’s dad and step-mom’s ceremony (I loved them but don’t want to over step)

-Something blue: Garter (default), possibly a nail on ring finger

The two that aren’t set in stone yet are my old and blue. Has anyone done the “sixpence in your shoe”? This could be an “old” if it’s authentic and depending on year. On the line about this one.

Great ideas Jennifer! I've never seen someone do their something blue as nail polish! I think that would be really pretty!

My sister did all white French tips and then on her left ring finger it was a Tiffany blue tip. Looked really good, subtle but a great way to add in blue.
