Hey everyone! I'm getting married next summer and I have a slight dilemma. My father is deceased so I am having my older brother walk me down the aisle in his absence. I would also like to have a brother/sister dance at my reception in lieu of the father/daughter dance for obvious reasons. My problem is that I can't seem to find a song that's appropriate for my brother and I to dance to. My FH is planning to dance with his mother and I feel it would be rather odd if I didn't acknowledge my brother in the same capacity, since he is the only male role model that has been in my life. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help =D

My father passed away unexpectedly a year ago this February... I got engaged right before he passed and he had no idea... My younger brother is walking me down the aisle and doing a brother/sister dance with me. I'd rather skip the dance, but my FH is dancing with his mother so I feel like it would be weird if I didn't. I'm not sure what to choose since I'm really emotional about the situation as it is.

These are some awesome ideas. My Guy and I are planning a Winter Wonderland in Jan 2013.

My dad has also passed and my brother is giving me away as well. I am an older bride (and not my first wedding) but we wanted some tradtional items in the wedding. We are having his mother dance with him and my brother dance with me at the same time to - My Wish by Rascal Flatts. We are also dedicating a dance for our daughters (we have 5 over 18) and having them and their dates dance to I Hope you dance by Lee Ann Womack.

Should be great fun! Can't wait.

So it's hard to find a good song for me and him

This is making me tear up! My father passed away 15 mos ago and Im getting married in October. My biggest fear has come true. Ive always had such a bond with my dad. Im so happy there are others who I can read about who have shared in this. I bet your wedding was beautiful. I know my older brother will be honored to give me away, as he says hes already paid my fiance to take me. Spoken like my father. I know your father was watching down on you and praising his beautiful daughter. Thank you for posting this. God bless

I have a similar dilema. I am the brother of the bride and I am giving my sister away. I don't want to use the traditional songs. I found a perfect song, For Good from the Broadway show Wicked. I picked the Glee version as it's a little faster. Some people are saying it's too slow for a wedding song. Suggestions.

I'm in need of help. I'm not even sure if my family will be going to my wedding, as they do not like my fh, and as of this moment, do not know I'm engaged. My step father(who was in my life from birth) tragically passed away on his way to work earlier this year. I was(and still am) a daddy's girl, I have always wanted to dance with him to "I loved her first", but I just don't think that would work out as a brother/sister song. And as I am still unsure as to whether or not they will even be there, is there a suggestion as to something I could use? My brother is my little brother, and he's a Goofball. I have been up every night thinking about this, crying, because I'm heartbroken over my dad not being able to be there.... :/

My parents never raised me so My aunt and uncle did.. I call them mom and dad.. Well my father that raised me passed away in 2010.. I wanted my grandfather to walk me but he also passed away in 2008.. I have gotten close to my real father since 2008..He is unable to attend my wedding because of legal reasons and because my sister basically ruined his life.. So my choice to walk me down the isle is my brother-in-law Josh.. He has been around since I was 5.. Im 20 now.. But i have no idea what song to choose for the brother/sister dance.. Any suggestions plzz

I thought of I loved you first also but idk if that is right for a brother snd sister dance.. it's hard to find the right song for this and I need two. I'm thinking of possibly splitting the song up so it's more equal, even though my older brother is more of a father figure, my other is more of a best friend, very hard!

I'm dancing with my little brother at my wedding as well. he's much younger than me (I'm 26 he's 14) so I wanted to do something that's short and cute. I decided on You've got a friend in me the theme from toy story.

Like so many of you I am also extremely thankful to have found this post! My dad passed away exactly a month ago after a 4-year battle with cancer, and his dying wish was for my older brother to give me away and dance with me. I dreamt of dancing to "I Loved Her First" when I thought my dad would be well enough to make it to my wedding this December, but that song just doesn't fit for my brother. "There You'll Be" seems perfect. As I wipe the tears from my eyes it is so comforting to know I'm not nearly as alone as I thought I was in this situation!

I lost my father 10 years ago and have thought all the time about how I'm going to miss my daddy / daughter dance. My mom is going back and forth deciding if she wants to walk me down, or have my only brother.

I love these suggestions as he has agreed to dance with me that night.

I am leaning towards There You'll be..... but I still have 8 months to decide
